The restaurant has been a beacon for modern Indian dining and though its cooking remains good, the menu has not been changed for over a year. We rather feel it has gone "off the boil". Service is still good.

It was alright, but our expectations were higher. The first course served was fine, but not the one we ordered. They did offer to send it back and replace but we couldn't be bothered. Several items were not available 'kitchen issues' and the waitress could have been a bit more clued up.

Very quiet on a Thursday in January. One other table. Poor service. Waitress uninterested. Not welcoming. We were going to have 7 course with wine pairing but decided not the place to do that. Food not great and a burger bun added to things does not make it interesting.

Sadly there was no brunch available, no dosas, no samosas, no roast pork belly...a real shame as the children were really looking forward to brunch, and we only found out an hour or so before that only the (expensive) a la carte menu would be available.

A meal of two halves. The food was excellent, the service poor. Karnavar is an Indian restaurant, with an emphasis on restaurant. It is certainly not a curry house. That means the quality and presentation of the food is excellent. It also means anyone who expects a poppadom and a pint in front of them within 2 minutes of arrival will be disappointed. Whilst we had both poppadoms and starters, to wait an hour and twenty minutes from sitting down to seeing our main courses was too long. This was a consistent problem. It took time for drinks orders to taken throughout the meal and then more time before they arrived. The restaurant was reasonably busy but far from full. That it appeared we were being served by the manager only made it more disappointing.

Special occasion with friends. Table for 4, at 8.00pm. We were left for a considerable amount of time before having our order taken, then long periods waiting for courses to arrive, and to be cleared. Difficult to order more drinks as staff were nowhere to be seen, possibly serving guests at the back of the restuarant? However, the bill came swiftly! What should have been a wonderful dining experience was marred by poor service.

The food is very good at this restaurant. We ate here on a Thursday evening and there was a distinct lack of atmosphere, even though there were several other diners. We expected more ‘engagement’ when asking about the food on the menu so were left to decide for ourselves, which was a pity as they weren’t busy so should have been able to take the time.
