From renowned Michelin-starred Chef Atul Kochhar, Kanishka Restaurant showcases food from the Northeast of India in a sleek, modern atmosphere. Relatively unexplored, Northeastern Indian cuisine is defined by its own unique flavours and combinations, quite different from cuisine elsewhere in the country, and is known for its use of bamboo shoots, mustard oil and fermented vegetables.
At Kanishka Restaurant savour modern interpretations of traditional dishes, all made using local produce keeping in mind core values of the cuisine. Signature offerings on the Kanishka menu, which changes seasonally, include Atul’s chicken tikka pie, banana leaf-steamed sea bass with sorrel chutney, or venison steak with grilled apple and aubergine. Round off the meal with a tempting dessert like coconut rice pudding or tandoori fruit custard.
At the Kanishka bar, indulge in a variety of flavourful cocktails, or make your own, complemented with snacks like fried momos, fish pakodas or keema naan.

The food was excellent some interesting dishes which we had not tasted before. The service was OK but should be better in such a quality restaurant, nice bar for pre dinner drinks . Overall would recommend and will revisit.

4 of us had the London Feast menu at a 5.30pm pre-theatre time slot. Despite being the first customers the ambience was great as the restaurant began to fill quite quickly. This was a an exceptionally good value deal with no compromise on quality whatsoever. Superb ingredients were cooked to perfection and presented beautifully - and the depth of flavour was amazing. Particular mention goes to the mixed fish starter, the dumplings, the paneer skewer and the beautiful rice pudding, though every dish we had was very well received. A big pat on the back for including poppadoms to start and petit fours to finish. Oh, and the cocktail, which was a delicious way to start our evening. The staff were so welcoming and helpful and the whole experience was a delight. We would certainly return.

Kanishka has great potential but falls short on delivery. It seems to me to have a great arrogance for a new restaurant. The menu on paper sounds creative, thoughtful and really delicious. Eating it at the restaurant was not what I hoped it would be. The service was incredibly slow for a quality establishment and given the prices. The samosa chaat was exciting and definitely worth a try, though the deep-fried seafood was very fishy and made me very nervous about the freshness. Butter chicken was creatively executed but 3 cubes of chicken is, to my mind, too little for a main dish. The main disappointment was the dessert. The tandoori custard sounded creative and original. On tasting it, it was incredibly salty. I asked the staff if this was normal. It turns out that the chef used salt instead of sugar for the dessert!! They brought us a new one and apologised. I would think this kind of mistake would be accompanied by a greater level of embarrassment or a gesture of generosity like bringing a couple of petit fours? I wouldn't recommend Kanishka until the food measures up to the prices and to the confidence of the staff.

We went for the set dinner menu deal. Phenomenal value for money - I don’t know how they have done 3 courses incl champagne cocktail & a bottle of wine for £30 pp. The food was amazing - sublime flavours & quite unique combinations. I’m a foodie and very fussy about my Indian food and could not fault anything. Atul has definitely pulled out all the stops with this new arrival to the London dining scene. I will be back but next time to try the a la carte menu - the biryani is calling!
