Excellent food drink & service, however we felt rushed with the speed of the meals and felt like we were an inconvenience as the afternoon went on and the restaurant closed.

We went for a taster lunch and loved every minute of it! Waiters weren't like waiters usual are, more like friends who wanted you to share there little treasures. I had a favourite dish....until the next one came along, they were all wonderful and beautifully presented (perhaps the venison as you ask) The wine 'flight' was a joy. Despite my many years of drinking the stuff I learned more in an afternoon than I thought possible. There were some I Googled for as soon as I got home and there were some which I didn't! But combined with Parsnip Sorbet! Marvellous. I would have happily gone round again, and indeed I will, next time I have something to celebrate, like Saturdays.

We had lunch at the restaurant and we are pleased to say it was an extraordinary experience. We greatly enjoyed the imaginative array of flavours and the beautiful presentation of the food. The creative back of house team was also supported by an equally professional and knowledgeable front of house team. We are new to the area and it was our first really special culinary afternoon.

Excellent cannot believe it’s on our doorstep. Staff were so attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The food was well, there is no other word for it but divine. This was our second visit and brought friends who will definitely come again as we will. Thank you giving us such a great gastronomic evening . Mrs M

We had the tasting menu as a treat for me as I recuperate from an operation. Good choice! Staff were very friendly and made everyone feel special. The entrance area was a bit squashed as multiple people arrived at the same time. It was v useful( for us older, frailer types) to have toilets on the same level as the dining rooms - the stairs could be a bit of a challenge to some! The food was really, really delicious - we still dream of the beetroot macaroon with dehydrated yoghurt! We also appreciated the helpful way that food issues ( I loathe liquorice and rhubarb) were catered for without hesitation. My partner who normally only drinks lager relished the excellent John’s house ale and both the wines I drunk were superb. It was a really good evening and we have no hesitation in recommending it extremely highly to others - we have already shared menu and glowing account on our Facebook pages!

Amazing experience from start to finish. Truly personal service all the way though. Beautiful food. Unusual flavours. Not at all pretentious. Lovely welcoming environment and staff.

The whole experience was lovely, service was very good. the staff were very knowledgable and friendly. I am vegan and the menu options which they offered ( on my own separate menu) including the taster menu all looked amazing. I opted for the beetroot to start which was really delicious, and the barley risotto, which again was very tasty. To follow I had caramelised banana with peanut and coconut ice cream, a change from the usual sorbets offered as vegan desert, and all the non vegans wanted to try it!

From the moment we arrived the experience was amazing. Lovely warm welcome on arrival, the staff warm and friendly (not overly officious like some Michelin starred restaurants!) and the fire was lit and inviting as it was a cold evening outside, so a perfect start. Loved the canapés during pre dinner drinks, presentation thoughtful to complement the items served. We chose from the a al carte menu which was an ample choice for us. Every dish was truly scrumptious, fresh ingredients, tasty but not too ‘messed’ about. Portion sizes more than adequate. Would be hard to choose the best part of the evening, it was all great.
