Absolutely stunning 7 course tasting menu! The wine flight really is a must with this option too. First class service, cooking, presentation and not a single fault in the whole experience.

Firstly, many thanks to John for providing nice foods to us. We had a lunch in your restaurant. Quiet ambience and good food are my comments. Personally, I feel that the hen of wood is too salty and dessert is too sweet. Meanwhile, I believe that it would bring pleasure and boost sales if you can add some pictures on menu to help foreign customers to understand the materials of food. Honestly, I thought I was going back.

We visited john's house at lunchtime on Friday 16 February for a very special occasion. We had chosen to experience the Taster Menu with wine at £115 per head and in total our bill was the best part of £600. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing, presented beautifully and accompanied by a very informative Sommelier serving wonderful wine. The waiting staff were very attentive, polite and discreet. The ambience was perfect until the table next to us was filled with a couple together with their baby! Immediately a mobile phone was switched on for cartoons. We could hear the sound coming from the phone. The baby cried intermittently and a bottle of milk was then produced.

I left our table to speak with the Maitre d' who informed me that the couple had called only an hour before to say their babysitter had let them down and could they still come with their baby. He had agreed to this. I told him that we could hear cartoon music from our table and he said he would ask them to turn down the volume. He was very unapologetic about this and made me feel uncomfortable that I had even mentioned it to him. We still do not understand why this couple were seated next to us when there was another room they could have been placed in. We would be paying nearly '£600' for this experience. It should have been perfect. A table adjacent to ours was also taking the Taster Menu so for the sake of approximately £60/£70 from the couple with the baby, our experience was not perfect. We were under the impression that being awarded a Michelin Star was not just about the food and beverages (although we know this is a huge part), but also about the ambience and the experience as a whole. The food that was served was second to none and the wine was delicious and well chosen. However, we felt that the tables were too close together and a bad decision was made by the Maitre d'. All in all, our experience was not perfect and it should have been. Won't be returning

Fantastic! The food was exceptional (raw venison and parsnip desert my highlights) the service was attentive without being over bearing. One can be made to feel the minor detail in some starred establishments but Johns House is friendly, professional and well worth a visit. My wife and I will be back sooner rather than later

My 1st visit was Saturday lunch & 2nd visit Saturday evening. I preferred the evenings as there were some exelent tasters between each course. The food was the best we have ever tasted. There was only one thing that some of the foods were a little too salty for me but nothing to spoil anything and you can always advise before ordering as they will do anything to accomadate you.

Simply wonderful from start to finish. Very understated, not up itself in any way. Just friendly staff, pleasant surroundings, and fantastic food! Perfect!

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable on the food and wine.
Have had main menu and taster on separatw visits. Prefer main menu. Taster was excellent but some a little too 'soft' in texture as a lot are very finely chopped. Tastes and techniques are out of this world. Love love love everything about John's House.
