Very good apart from two portions of mash being cold when it was served - it was changed but it should have been hot when it arrived with the main course - restaurants must ensure that food is not portioned up and left to stand until required.

A hidden gem surrounded by the shops and theatres of Covent Garden, Joe Allen is a highly regarded restaurant serving a selection of American and European specialities.

Ideally located for a pre-theatre meal or for dinner after the show, Joe Allen is quietly tucked away on Exeter Street just a five-minute walk away from Covent Garden underground station. Nearby theatres include The Lyceum, Novello Theatre and Duchess Theatre, as well as the Fortune Theatre and Theatre Royal. Joe Allen is also a great destination for a special brunch, lunch or dinner when shopping or staying in one of the hotels around Covent Garden and on the Strand.

Opened in 1977 as a stylish London dining venue for theatre-goers, artists, journalists and performers alike, Joe Allen has a relaxed, casual feel throughout. Today the healthy cuisine and friendly atmosphere attract an eclectic clientele of the West End's young and trendy crowd, romantic couples and families.

Wonderful in every way. The warmth of the staff, the atmosphere of the restaurant, the food ( I ate a light salmon meal as I was going to a three hour play and wanted to stay awake!), the wine......everything was fabulous. I've been going to Joe's for decades and originally had been concerned about the move of premises, but it's still a firm favourite.

Surprised to see burgers not on the menu, for an American restaurant. But easily available via the friendly and very helpful waitresses. Atmosphere very relaxed and comfortable.

Joe Allen is my favourite restaurant in London. The food is consistently excellent, the staff are wonderful and there is always a fabulous atmosphere. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Good atmosphere and service. The new bar is welcoming and bar tenders were good. The vegetarian dishes very variable, especially from the early menu. The
leek and potato pie was disappointing - a huge piece of puff pastry on some uninteresting chopped up potato and leek. However the artichoke soup was delicious.
The house white wine is very acidic.

It was my first time at your restaurant, it was chosen by my friend, purely because of its proximity to the theatre. Upon entering I was immediately surprised. A pianist playing soft music really set the mood for fine dining. The waitress was attentive whilst keeping a respectful distance. The food itself was nicely cooked, well presented, and appropriately portioned. I’d definitely go back again, when I’m next in London.
