Restaurant description

A hidden gem surrounded by the shops and theatres of Covent Garden, Joe Allen is a highly regarded restaurant serving a selection of American and European specialities.

Ideally located for a pre-theatre meal or for dinner after the show, nearby theatres include The Lyceum, Novello Theatre and Duchess Theatre, as well as the Fortune Theatre and Theatre Royal. Joe Allen is also a great destination for a special brunch, lunch or dinner when shopping or staying in one of the hotels around Covent Garden and on the Strand.

Opened in 1977 as a stylish London dining venue for theatre-goers, artists, journalists and performers alike, Joe Allen has a relaxed, casual feel throughout. Today the healthy cuisine and friendly atmosphere attract an eclectic clientele of the West End's young and trendy crowd, romantic couples and families.

Excellent as always. Had a lovely quiet table for 3. Service was very good. One small complaint, my friend ordered the minute steak which was supposed to be served pink but came more medium. Overall 9 out of ten

Thanks so much for making our visit perfect in every single way. Just would like to point out a small hitch while booking: normally I use Apple Maps with Bookatable integration to do that, however it seems to be failing - Apple Maps shows that everything is booked out, whilst the Bookatable app shows plenty of slots are available. Could be an issue on Apple Maps side, not sure, just thought to mention in a hope that one way or another it can be fixed.

Overall i had lovely evening, the waiters were helpful and friendly. The service as very good and did not have long to wait for our food. We enjoyed the starters of mackerel pate, but felt if needed extra toast as there was plenty of pate in the dish. The bar steak for the main course was excellent. The only disappointment was the desert, there did not seem to be enough of it. The sticky toffee pudding was a small square enough for two bites with a blob of ice cream on it. Did not think it was value for money. Enjoyed the pianist.

Joe Allen's is a favourite with colleagues and friends alike. Went back there with some Danish friends last night at their request. Great buzzy atmosphere enhanced by the pianist. Good food and service. Another great evening there.

Joe Allen was buzzing early on a Tuesday evening. Good service, great food. It's worth looing passed the set menu option as a la carte is not a lot more, but there are just so many choices.
