A hidden gem surrounded by the shops and theatres of Covent Garden, Joe Allen is a highly regarded restaurant serving a selection of American and European specialities.
Ideally located for a pre-theatre meal or for dinner after the show, Joe Allen is quietly tucked away on Exeter Street just a five-minute walk away from Covent Garden underground station. Nearby theatres include The Lyceum, Novello Theatre and Duchess Theatre, as well as the Fortune Theatre and Theatre Royal. Joe Allen is also a great destination for a special brunch, lunch or dinner when shopping or staying in one of the hotels around Covent Garden and on the Strand.
Opened in 1977 as a stylish London dining venue for theatre-goers, artists, journalists and performers alike, Joe Allen has a relaxed, casual feel throughout. Today the healthy cuisine and friendly atmosphere attract an eclectic clientele of the West End's young and trendy crowd, romantic couples and families.

Joe Allen's always welcome us with open arms. The night was very busy but the staff paid attention and the food was delicious. Especially the squid, steak and sea bass. Had a great evening out with friends and will always be back! Bloody May's and Salted Caramel Martini's on pointe as always!

Very good dining experience. The staff were friendly and the food and atmosphere were fab. The burgers were lush and should be added to your menu! Strange system that you have to ask for them!

A thoroughly enjoyable early evening meal with my daughter, who was intrigued by the "secret menu". I had wondered if the move from Exeter Street would spoil the mood at Joe Allen, but I'm delighted to say that the old place has been lovingly recreated in Burleigh Street. Somehow they've bottled the atmosphere and brought it with them, which is great. The food was very good, the service absolutely delightful, and the prices reasonable - and that is why, in the words of Nat King Cole "I keep going back to Joe's". Thanks and here's to the next time.

Joe Allen has changed and not for the better sadly. Used to love this place but the ethos seems more about churning the tables than good service.

The crispy squid starter was absolutely delicious, as was the goat's cheese salad. Lovely bottle of Prosecco to accompany excellent food.

Very good atmosphere
Staff were friendly
Staff were very good and efficient but service was maybe a bit too quick
Piano was nice
Lemon tart and whipped cream was delicious
Would have preferred there to be more pasta on the menu and more vegetarian options
Portions could have been bigger for the price
Tried several cocktails and none of them were nice

I ordered the Mac and cheese with bacon, and it was nice. Nothing amazing, but I think the breadcrumbs added a nice touch. There wasn’t a very strong cheese flavour which I’m used to in Mac and cheese, but was nice to eat. My partner ordered the steak and he said was one of the best he’s had. The chips were really nice too. My brother also ordered the baby back ribs and said they were good too. Side salad was seasoned nicely as well. The service was good and quick as well.
