A hidden gem surrounded by the shops and theatres of Covent Garden, Joe Allen is a highly regarded restaurant serving a selection of American and European specialities.
Ideally located for a pre-theatre meal or for dinner after the show, nearby theatres include The Lyceum, Novello Theatre and Duchess Theatre, as well as the Fortune Theatre and Theatre Royal. Joe Allen is also a great destination for a special brunch, lunch or dinner when shopping or staying in one of the hotels around Covent Garden and on the Strand.
Opened in 1977 as a stylish London dining venue for theatre-goers, artists, journalists and performers alike, Joe Allen has a relaxed, casual feel throughout. Today the healthy cuisine and friendly atmosphere attract an eclectic clientele of the West End's young and trendy crowd, romantic couples and families.

We had lunch and we ordered a beef burger. It is not part of the menu but we were told they served burgers.
Unfortunately it was not the best option...We were expecting to have fresh meat but it was defrosted, and not very well (watery flavour and packed). So basically it is the same average/low quality you can find in any pub in London. However, more expensive...
Chips were also frozen, so nothing special. and quite expensive for a mid/small bucket of chips...
Other dishes around our table didn't look great either...
Service was neither good or bad, they served us the food, drinks and finally the bill. But we never were asked about how was everything.
Finally I ordered a coffee latte and I spilled half of it as soon as they brought to me. They cleaned the table but I was not offered another one, they didn't mention anything. Probably it was my fault because I was expecting to be treated as I was in a proper restaurant. -

We had a booking for 6.15 but it was a cold day and walking around was not a happy experience so we went to the restaurant at 4.30 to see if we could eat earlier No problem at all we where meet with true professionals
Pre dinner cocktails were fantastic Our waitress was very experienced knew when to talk and when to listen Informed us about the menu and made us feel very good
Food was very good great presentation and the whole place very enjoyable experience We where very happy to visit the new location as it had been years since we last dinned at Joe Allen but it will not be years again before we revisit -

I was delighted with the whole occasion, as indeed were my guests. Food and wine were good and the service was excellent. The staff went over and above to make
sure we were satisfied. I have been coming to Joe Allen for years, and you have NEVER let me down. Thank you. -

Excellent as always. We treat ourselves to a weekend in London twice a year & often head here. Always excellent food service & good wines. We had tuna starter & seabass main course.

Food was good, with the exception of the poached egg on my fish cake, which did not have a correct, runny yolk. Service was very good ; so was the general atmosphere. One ‘issue’ : only the children’s menu had a burger, which we thought surprising in a US-style restaurant. And I would have chosen a burger if it had been shown on the main menu. When we had finished eating the couple on the adjacent table were served with burgers ! I asked the waiter about this and he said that the couple had a special deal. Surely all options should be visible on the menu ?

Lovely welcome, attentive staff, quick service. Great atmosphere. Loved the piano player and all the memorabilia photographs on the wall. Good value for money.
