Brought to you by one of the UK’s best-loved celebrity chefs and named in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants 2015, James Martin’s eponymously-named restaurant is found within Manchester’s glitzy 235 Casino. An on-site ‘meat market’ sees guests step inside a cavernous walk-in meat fridge, which showcases cuts from the menu.
The seasonally-changing menu by James Martin is bursting with produce sourced from tried-and-tested butchers, fishmongers, game dealers, farmers and cheesemakers. Signature flavours might include Thai crab risotto, or coffee-crusted venison loin. Imaginative twists for dessert include white chocolate & whisky croissant pudding, or apple crumble soufflé. Traditional Sunday roasts with all the trimmings are also a firm favourite.
Perfectly matched to the menu, the wine list at James Martin in Manchester features old and New World bins, and experimental mixes are served at the adjoining Vega Lounge cocktail bar.
This classic British restaurant is set on its own mezzanine level, with edgy Great-Northern-warehouse styling including vintage fabrics and artwork, polished girders and exposed brickwork. Find restaurant James Martin just 3 minutes’ walk from Deansgate Train Station. Please note, guests must be aged 18 or over.

I first visited here a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the experience - not sure why it took me so long to visit again. Fortunately it was still as i remembered - excellent food and service with a fantastic warm and relaxed atmosphere. Its a shame that there isn't sufficient tables and chairs in the bar area for a post meal drink and relaxation. However, the music level and general noise still allows a conversation which is great. A really enjoyable evening...??????

Arrived a little early but they were able to accommodate us and we had a lovely table in the middle of the dining room. Service excellent, not to rushed and very attentive without being intrusive. Selected from the A la carte menu and all 4 of us enjoyed every morsel. Good-sized side dishes too although didn't eat all of them as the main dishes were pretty substantial. Couldn't fault any of it.

Two out of the five dishes I did not enjoy and I found a gun pellet in the pidgin I was served which I bit down on. The ambience was not great as the music was tinny but when the live pianist was playing it made a big difference and I really enjoyed her live music. 4 of the glasses of wine were lovely but the wine that was paired with pudding I couldn’t drink.

We (a group of 5 people) opted for the 'taster menu' with matching wines. It proved to be and excellent choice. Each 'course' impressed with presentation, flavours and levels of preparation. Matching wines were entirely appropriate. Service was sensitive and helpful. Overall a pleasant 'gourmet' experience!

It was a very disappointing experience. We waited 20mins after being seated before we were offered drinks. There was only 5 other tables occupied so it wasn't busy and a table that came in 10 minutes after were served first.
