Brought to you by one of the UK’s best-loved celebrity chefs and named in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants 2015, James Martin’s eponymously-named restaurant is found within Manchester’s glitzy 235 Casino. An on-site ‘meat market’ sees guests step inside a cavernous walk-in meat fridge, which showcases cuts from the menu.
The seasonally-changing menu by James Martin is bursting with produce sourced from tried-and-tested butchers, fishmongers, game dealers, farmers and cheesemakers. Signature flavours might include Thai crab risotto, or coffee-crusted venison loin. Imaginative twists for dessert include white chocolate & whisky croissant pudding, or apple crumble soufflé. Traditional Sunday roasts with all the trimmings are also a firm favourite.
Perfectly matched to the menu, the wine list at James Martin in Manchester features old and New World bins, and experimental mixes are served at the adjoining Vega Lounge cocktail bar.
This classic British restaurant is set on its own mezzanine level, with edgy Great-Northern-warehouse styling including vintage fabrics and artwork, polished girders and exposed brickwork. Find restaurant James Martin just 3 minutes’ walk from Deansgate Train Station. Please note, guests must be aged 18 or over.

Four of us had the '5 course tasting menu' which was superb, the wine was excellent and very good value. Would recommend it for the food but very noisy so difficult to talk to our friends.

Sumptuous surroundings and a great view of Manchester from the table at the window.

The 5 course taster menu was one of the tastiest we've had. First class ingredients, superb presentation and subtle ,varied, tantalising flavours.. We thought the quantities of consommé and salmon were rather mean, even though skilfully executed and beautifully presented. The fish course and strawberry dessert were great. The slow cooked rib of beef was full of flavour though the portion was tiny, even taking into account that we had the taster menu. The measures of wine were perfectly matched with each course.

Enjoyable meal. Coped with dietary restrictions well, reconfirmed on arrival. Although there was some confusion in the mind of the (new) waiter, which caused one dish to be returned (twice), and a hasty removal of a dish from the vegetarian menu.
Tomato consommé clear and flavourful, star of the show was the Hake, beautifully cooked and seasoned perfectly. Beef rib a little disappointing - unlucky cut with too much fat and gristle. Wine flight was a reasonably good pairing of wine and food, and one split between 2 was perfect to allow the food to be enjoyed without being blurred by alcohol.
There was a piano player performing live, and as we were sat as far away as possible in the restaurant, the sound level was not overpowering.
Overall the special offer of 5 course tasting menu for £30, or £47 including wine flight good value.

We went here for a date night and had a really lovely time. The ambiance was lovely with the piano and singer in the background. Food was really nice too my favourite dish being the starter of pork belly. My husband loved his steak and chips too. Service was really good too and our waiter was very knowledgeable.

The staff were friendly & helpful. The best feature was a table by the window, (The outside windows could do with a wash!). All the dishes were very interesting and enjoyable, the least favourite was the Lamb which we found rather sweet.
