J Sheekey Menu A West End favourite with an illustrious 100-year heritage, J Sheekey fish restaurant and oyster bar has a timelessly classic air. J Sheekey draws in a high-profile clientele of theatregoers and foodies.

Tucked away on St Martin’s Court, the dining room at J Sheekey London features an intimate ambience with dark corners and wood-panelled interconnecting rooms. The fresh fish and seafood is presented with flair at this London institution, along with a few meat dishes and imaginative vegetarian options.

Next door to J Sheekey is the Oyster Bar, with a horseshoe-shaped central dining bar, and classic photographs of 21st-century theatrical luminaries. A fine list of champagnes and sparkling wines at J Sheekey will complement the seasonal specialities and shellfish.

The finest seafood at J Sheekey Leicester Square includes Shetland mussels, Dublin Bay prawns, fresh oysters from Cornwall or caviar and crab, and all fish are responsibly caught from sustainable sources. Pre and post theatre dining is popular at J Sheekey, with the Royal Opera House and Place Theatre within easy reach.

Pre theatre dinner at 5.30. Great range of food you want to eat.

We went shopping all day in London and then had an early dinner at 6pm. We arrived a little early and had a drink at the bar however it was very busy and not a lot of room to move around as the whole area had customers that I assume were still there from lunch. All the customers appeared to be regulars and had eaten around the bar as well as desserts were still being offered. The staff seeing that we had no where to sit offered us a seat in the restaurant that was due to open at 5.30. We were seated by very friendly staff and left to finish our drinks before being asked what we would like for dinner. We both had scallops with chilli, they were lovely and not too overpowering as I do not like anything too hot. I then had halibut grilled with mash and green beans with garlic and pancetta with a chocolate fondant to follow. My friend had a large sea Bream and shared my veg. The wine varied from around £22 upwards but the average price was in the £35 bracket. We were not rushed but the food was served a little too quick for my liking. As soon as the starters left the main arrived. I assume that was the case as we were so early and there were only about 5 other tables with customers. My only dislike was the way the man who I assume was the maitre'd spoke to me when I asked a question about a dessert. He was very rude and obviously thought I should have known the answer to the question I was asking. I had to prompt him for any answer. Apart from him the whole evening was lovely and I would visit again. Its very difficult to get a reservation so you need to book early. We paid [$] for two, with one bottle of wine, two glasses of champagne, 3 courses of food. Would have been so much more expensive if we had lobster, oysters or certain other fish. Well worth a visit and nice size portions too.

I had been wanting to visit J Sheekey for some time and was so excited at the prospect of finally going. I wasn't dissapointed, the moment we walked in, we felt at ease. The atmosphere was perfect and the staff could not have been more approachable and competent. The new guy who has only been there for seven months, was particularly delightful. A platter to share, a zesty bottle of Sauvignon and we were more than happy. Next time I want to sample the assortment of hot dishes. Thank J Sheekey. See you next time!
