Headed by Atul Kochhar of Michelin-starred Benares, Bib Gourmand winner Indian Essence offers a polished, modern take on Indian cuisine. The spotless dining room features bold magenta lighting and a chic glowing bar.
Alongside gourmet curries and succulent dishes served straight from the tandoor oven, the Indian Essence menu includes Atul’s favourites, like lobster in coconut sauce, or Goa-style sirloin steak with coriander chips. Classic European desserts are served with a twist at Indian Essence in Petts Wood, like cardamom-infused dark chocolate fondant, or rose & raspberry-scented Calcutta cheesecake.
A range of slick, refreshing cocktail mixes are offset by a bold wine list: perfectly matched to complement the intense flavours of the dishes. Regularly changing vintage bottles are available from the bar at Indian Essence near Bromley, as well as cooling masala iced tea, or passion fruit and chutney martini.
Found in a leafy London suburb, Indian Essence restaurant is a 3-minute walk from Petts Wood Rail Station.

Brought friends here after my husband and I raved about our first experience at Indian Essence three years ago. The restaurant was fully booked. It was a hot day. The air conditioning unit was on. We ordered different dishes so that we could try them all. Starters included scallops, rabbit, chicken, beetroot. Mains chicken, goat, lamb. Had some sides, naan and poppadoms. The overall opinion was a wonderful fine dining experience. Minor notes of disappointment - we still had our menus when the poppadoms arrived (main dishes order had not been taken), so didn't know quite where to put them. On our last visit we were blown away by the flavours in all the dishes. Unfortunately this time some dishes were just too spicy (hot) that the flavours got lost. One of our party was close to the air conditioning unit. She became quite chilled and said her food was going cold fast.

I love taking friends to Indian Essence because the service is attentive but not intrusive and the food creatively delicious. A culinary explosion of flavour. Always love the Goat Curry ??. Thank you for another great evening Indian Essence.

Indian Essence is one of our favourites; the food is exquisite and a little different to the usual menu found in many other Indian restaurants. We had the curried goat which was exceptionally good. Pricing is slightly higher than other local restaurants but the food reflects this.
