Indian Essence offers a polished, modern take on Indian cuisine. The spotless dining room features bold magenta lighting and a chic glowing bar.
Alongside gourmet curries and succulent dishes served straight from the tandoor oven, the Indian Essence menu includes many of Atul’s favourites, including Kori Gassi and Railway Lamb Curry. like lobster in coconut sauce, or Goa-style sirloin steak with coriander chips. Classic European Desserts are served with a twist at Indian Essence in Petts Wood, like cardamom-infused dark chocolate fondant, or rose & raspberry-scented Calcutta cheesecake.
A range of slick, refreshing cocktail mixes are offset by a bold wine list: perfectly matched to complement the intense flavours of the dishes. Regularly changing vintage bottles are available from the bar at Indian Essence near Bromley, as well as cooling masala iced tea, or passion fruit and chutney martini.
Found in a leafy London suburb, Indian Essence restaurant by Atul Kochhar is a 3-minute walk from Petts Wood Rail Station.

DISAPPOINTING I have eaten in some high end Indian restaurants such Mint Leaf & even Tamarind, which Atul was a part of once but this was a sadly a disappointment. I was dining with a party of 4 and as my starter arrived, which was the scallops it was clearly a small portion as compared with all my other diners meals. For a Michelin starred chef restaurant I would have expected King Scallops at least. My seafood main dish followed with the same disappointment. Just 3 muscles that were inedible as they had basically disintegrated in the shell, and a very small langostine not even de-schelled. The langostine was also fairly over cooked inside and was just a pile of mush. Alas I didnt bother with dessert and left paying a large amount of money for a meal I would frustratingly get from my local takeaway. Did I complain on the night? No Frankly I didnt want to disrespect the staff or my dining party and bring the mood down. Also, it should not have been able to get past the hot plate pass and get to me like that. A shame from a respected and established Chef in the industry.

The food was OUTSTANDING. Sadly the beers on their beer list did not match those available!

Food and service excellent as usual. Only slight issue was that the restaurant card machine was not working some had to go to as nearby cash machine in order to pay for the meal in cash. No advance warning of this but luckily had my debit card to hand - not sure what we could have done if I hadn't!

Delightful cuisine. Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Drinks are rather expensive

Yes we had a good meal. The menu is rather static and found the choice rather uninteresting.
