Restaurant description

Traditional homemade Italian cooking meets contemporary London dining at il Pampero in the heart of Belgravia. Located within the Hari Hotel on Chesham Place, the restaurant offers both a refined eating experience and a vibrant atmosphere. il Pampero is open every day for breakfast until 11am, and every Friday and Saturday evening for dinner from 6pm until 10pm.

At il Pampero, classic dishes are the order of the day, made with fresh, seasonal produce. Sample the famous tonnarello cacio e pepe, which is finished at tableside with a wheel of Pecorino cheese, grated to mix in the fresh pasta for a rich, silky sauce.

Finish your meal with the chef’s interpretation of a classic tiramisu – a dessert not to be missed.

il Pampero is just a 7-minute walk from Harrods, an 8-minute walk from Knightsbridge or Sloane Square Tube Stations, and a 10-minute walk from London Victoria Train Station.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Slow and unresponsive service. Starters wear great. Pasta way too salty.

I went for a Saturday evening booking, the restaurant was at 50% capacity. We ordered buratta and salmon tartar for starters and Cacio e Pepe for mains. The buratta was well flavoured, however, we did request extra bread which never came. The salmon tartar was very plain and rather tasteless, would not recommend. The caccio e pepe was quite good but salty and at £17 a plate I would not have expected this. I had seen on their social media it was previously being served in a cheese wheel but this was not done on our visit. The servers were polite, however, frankly not very present and I had to walk into the hotel reception to find someone to ask where the toilet was. The highlight for me was the wine, which was very good and frankly the meal's saving grace. The prices are high, £5 for a bottle of still water, £16 for a cocktail. At such prices I would have expected at least a small chocolate with my coffee but no such luck. I found the whole evening rather disappointing and won’t be returning. There are many better Italian restaurants in London and given the high prices being charged they failed to deliver.
