Bringing ground-breaking northern Chinese cuisine to one of London's most famous buildings, Hutong is housed on the 33rd floor of The Shard. From the sultry dining room at this restaurant in The Shard, floor-to-ceiling windows frame jaw-dropping views of the city. Enjoy creations inspired by dishes from the imperial palaces of Peking.
Inspired by its famous namesake restaurant in Hong Kong, the Hutong menu features favourite northern Chinese recipes served with contemporary flair. Head Chef and Sifu ('master' in traditional Chinese culture), Fei Wang, showcases his vast culinary experience honed across China and the UK. Enjoy acclaimed signature dishes at this Shard restaurant, like Chinese asparagus heart with hula dressing, and Red Star noodles: watch the waiter open a crown of red peppers to unveil a Sichuan broth with perfectly steamed halibut, rice noodles and gong vegetables. Hutong restaurant at The Shard in London also offers a delicately crafted selection of dim sum, and the menu's showstopper dish is Sichuan-style deep fried lobster, served with fresh red and green chillies, dried garlic and salted crispy black beans.
Offsetting its glittering glass façade, the Hutong dining room features traditional oriental décor, like smooth dark-wood panelling, and delicate patterned lanterns. Head to the glossy Shanghai Bar at The Shard for unrivalled views of the London skyline, and enjoy oriental-style cocktail mixes inspired by traditional Chinese medicine.
A spectacular addition to the London restaurant scene, Hutong restaurant at The Shard is found adjacent to London Bridge Tube and Train stations.
No reservations are taken for the bar, which operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The dress code is smart casual, and entry will not be allowed to those wearing shorts, sports kit, flip-flops or sports shoes.

I thought the restaurant Hutong was beautifully designed and the furniture fit well with the decor. The staff were very polite and friendly and did their jobs well. The menu was a little confusing as to my understanding we had to order 4 things from the menu, however we actually got everything on that menu to share which was nice to try new things I would of preferred to choose my own as I have different tastes. That being said the starts were presented beautifully and some were really tasty I loved the beef salad I could of just ate that and been happy. The main course was really nicely presented and I’m not a fish person so I only tried a little piece and was surprised of the taste and texture of the fish so well done Hutong for getting me to try something new. The vegetables at the main meal was to die for and I actually did eat it all as I wasn’t eating the fish I could of eaten more of the veggies and it completed the pickled rice which again I wasn’t fussed on trying but I must say was really nice just needed more of it. The dessert was better then I expected and the waitress explained it to a T and it was nice it’s an enquired taste but after eating two squares I wanted another. However the soft drinks prices of £4 are a little expensive I don’t mind paying that for a soft drink just make the bottles bigger. All in all this restaurant Hutong was very beautiful staff were attentive to our needs and asked about allergies which was a nice touch as I myself have one to salmon so that was a really nice touch on their behalf. I defiantly want to go back and order from the other menus and taste the difference. I will be back a very happy new customer and must not forget the view was spectacular next visit will be at night to see the view.

I love Hutong's set lunch menu and go every year if not twice a year also taking friends to enjoy the Hutong experience. The food is always delicious and the service is impeccable. The Dim sum on the lunch menu is exquisite, delicate mouthfuls of interesting combined flavours. The menu this year is different in that it incorporates a cold beef salad, which was tasty but not my favourite addition. I would have preferred another hot dish with the main or a soup dish instead of the beef salad. I normally enjoy every single dish on the lunch menu especially the last treat of the mango dessert that appeared on previous menus for a couple of years. Unfortunately this year the menu has a glutoneous (fried) rice cake dessert, which in my opinion was not very tasty and did not complement the main dish of delicious fried sea bass, not an appetising dessert to follow in my opinion. As always I enjoyed my experience at Hutong but did not enjoy this year's set lunch menu as much as previous years. Hutong has always in my opinion, produced high standards of food combining taste, quality and creativity, I hope these high standards continue.

100% recommend Hutong. The crispy prawn rolls were amazing and they were very generous with the soft shell crab! On top of that, we got a lovely view of the London sunset and nighttime was great as well. Regarding those on the front desk who take your coats, be warned, they do not put coats on hangers. They are all draped over chairs. Restaurant customer service wise, no complaints :)
