Bringing ground-breaking northern Chinese cuisine to one of London's most famous buildings, Hutong is housed on the 33rd floor of The Shard. From the sultry dining room at this restaurant in The Shard, floor-to-ceiling windows frame jaw-dropping views of the city. Enjoy creations inspired by dishes from the imperial palaces of Peking.

Inspired by its famous namesake restaurant in Hong Kong, the Hutong menu features favourite northern Chinese recipes served with contemporary flair. Head Chef and Sifu ('master' in traditional Chinese culture), Fei Wang, showcases his vast culinary experience honed across China and the UK. Enjoy acclaimed signature dishes at this Shard restaurant, like Chinese asparagus heart with hula dressing, and Red Star noodles: watch the waiter open a crown of red peppers to unveil a Sichuan broth with perfectly steamed halibut, rice noodles and gong vegetables. Hutong restaurant at The Shard in London also offers a delicately crafted selection of dim sum, and the menu's showstopper dish is Sichuan-style deep fried lobster, served with fresh red and green chillies, dried garlic and salted crispy black beans.

Offsetting its glittering glass façade, the Hutong dining room features traditional oriental décor, like smooth dark-wood panelling, and delicate patterned lanterns. Head to the glossy Shanghai Bar at The Shard for unrivalled views of the London skyline, and enjoy oriental-style cocktail mixes inspired by traditional Chinese medicine.

A spectacular addition to the London restaurant scene, Hutong restaurant at The Shard is found adjacent to London Bridge Tube and Train stations.

No reservations are taken for the bar, which operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The dress code is smart casual, and entry will not be allowed to those wearing shorts, sports kit, flip-flops or sports shoes.

View was incredible, service was spot on but the food and value for money were not. While the food was nice, majority of it was served cold or lukewarm at best.

Our major caveat was that everything tasted of the same base flavour of either garlic, soy and chilli. We were expecting a wide variety of flavours and exceptional dishes and what we got were three flavours that you can get from any Chinese takeaway. None of our choices were ever labelled as spicy yet all of them came leaving us requiring to have a drink after.

This brings me to our final issue which was the value for money this presents. The cocktails are lovely, and while they are £10 each it is something I come to expect in London. What took me by surprise however is the offer of water 'while you choose' that actually cost us £5.50 per bottle. Had I known I would have got the same bottle from Tesco for 60p and brought 10 just in case. Only beer they had was as to be expected Tsingtao but again, I was served a half pint but charged £6 for this.

Despite the fact that everything is priced exorbitantly, you don't actually receive that much. A small bowl of noodles for one with a bit of spicy soup is £11. A portion of 6 finger width deboned ribs cost £40. If you were to bring a family here I could imagine you very easily spending £500+ on what I can only describe as a mediocre meal.

One to visit for the spectacle of being that high in the Shard, but then again you could just go to the nearby bar or even to the viewing experience. I wouldn't say the food impressed us to the point where we would want to come again.

Great Service. Food was also tasty and flavourful with nice texture. The main is on a smaller side but with number of courses you won't leave with a space in your stomach.

Great views. Set lunch was good but not memorable. It is, of course, a tourist attraction and it felt like one.

Booking process was very easy. I looked to celebrate our anniversary and Hutong didn't disappoint. The staff were incredible and looked after us every step of the way. They also surprised us with a complimentary anniversary dessert. Following dinner they offered to take any photographs we wanted to remember the night and took us on a private tour of the restaurant to show us the views.
The food was fresh and is the best Chinese food I've ever tasted! The chef even came to our table to carve the duck. I would 100% recommend Hutong!
