Restaurant description

The term ‘hovarda’, which is used in both Turkish and Greek, playfully references a generous host with a free spirit. Hovarda on Rupert Street, Soho, embraces this through its luxe first floor cocktail bar and ground floor restaurant, with interiors designed by award-winning Lázaro Rosa‐Violan. The space features a large open kitchen and counter dining overlooking the open fire grills.

The menu focuses on dishes from the area surrounding the Aegean Sea, an arm of the Mediterranean located between the Greek and Turkish coasts. With an emphasis on seafood, the 80 cover restaurant features a daily-changing menu determined by what the day boats catch each day from around the British Isles, alongside a more extensive Aegean-inspired menu. Try dishes like char grilled wild tiger prawns, kleftiko; Ryeland lamb with sauteed king oyster mushrooms or red mullet with saffron yoghurt.

The dessert selection includes the likes of lokma, Turkish delight cheesecake or Hovarda chocolate bar. The 130 capacity- lounge bar serves an expansive list of spirits and classic cocktails. In the evenings, the bar hosts regular and guest DJs.

Hovarda is a 3-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus Tube Station.

Pathetic service, rude waiters, repeatedly showing up to table and not giving any time for order. Food quality substandard. False promises of bookings upstairs and rude managers at the door despite being old customers. Would definitely not recommend

Was welcomed by a friendy host and shown to a beautiful table, place is amazing, ordered drink which waiter got wrong, but het nothing major, ordered food then waited, waited some more and waited 3/4 hour for some poached eggs...they were good but not for such along wait, could not stay for main course so left which was a shame. If you have time on your hands go as am sure the freshness of the fish would be amazing as takes a while to catch it
