Restaurant description

Within the world famous National Theatre, House restaurant serves an elegant selection of simple and classic dishes. Overlooking the river Thames and with fantastic views of Somerset House, the restaurant comes complete with its own dedicated entrance on the river front.

Taking inspiration from the seasons, the House menu offers an impeccable selection of all-day dining dishes using the finest ingredients from its hand-picked suppliers. Enjoy a leisurely lunch, or perhaps absorb those sensational views while tucking into a pre-theatre meal.

Visitors can also enjoy a twist on a classic afternoon tea at House based around some of the National Theatre's most celebrated shows, featuring delicious delicacies inspired by productions such as One Man, Two Guvnors; Sweeney Todd; My Fair Lady and A Taste of Honey.

House on the South Bank is an 8-minute walk from Waterloo Station. House is open for lunch on Saturdays and mid-week during matinees in the main auditoriums.

    The staff were attentive and helpful. The food was excellent and a good choice for all tastes. A great choice for a pre theatre meal on the south bank and very good value.

    They were excellent : our train was held up so we arrived late but they still managed to serve us 2 delicious courses in half-an-hour in time for the show.

    We have dined here many times but the menu was very limited this time and the 4 of us found it difficult to choose any of the menu. We were disappointed and will not eat here again.
