Housed in the magnificently restored Sugar House, Hotel du Vin Bristol has an award-winning bistro, specialising in stunning French specialities. Close to the upmarket waterfront area, there is an intimate private bar and a sophisticated secluded courtyard.
The Hotel du Vin menu celebrates elegant French bistro-style dining, using fresh, premium, locally sourced ingredients. Delicate starters such as tiger prawns in garlic and pastis butter give way to bold mains, which include a hearty classic cassoulet with white beans and confit duck, sole meuniere or a baked aubergine and halloumi parmigiana. A Sunday lunch menu and range of superb desserts also feature.
The Hotel du Vin wine list is a highlight of the restaurant, featuring a huge variety of carefully selected bottles. Dark leather chairs and stained-wood tables sit alongside the colourful, bustling bar area, ensuring an elegant yet relaxed ambience.
Bristol Hotel du Vin occupies an elegant collection of Grade II listed houses from the 1700’s. The epitome of elegant French dining, the bistro at Hotel du Vin offers exquisite French cuisine with subtle Mediterranean accents.

Good value very good food. Good atmosphere. And the staff were lovely, we were an older group and they were very attentive. So often older groups can be ignored, but not here.

Staff as always in the restaurant were courteous and keen to make the experience a wonderful evening. It is a delightful restaurant with a lovely mood, perfect for all occasions be it meeting with a group of friends, business dining to impress or something a little more intimate. I ate a vegetarian meal and the beetroot with goats cheese starter was gorgeous. A little more choose with the vegetarian main meals would be appreciated, I found it very limiting. Even a veggie burger option would be a start! We went on a quiet evening and were allowed to choose our own table which was a nice touch.

It was okay. The set menu was a bit limited. Two of the dishes had Roquefort cheese which I don't like so limited my choice. Perhaps look at the whole menu and see how it fits together. We also felt everything seemed to come with bread or croutons. . I like hotel du vin service was good staff very pleasant. But next time would check out the set menu more before booking.
