The award-winning Hotel Honigmond is a green oasis in the middle of Berlin with a quite unique atmosphere. In days gone by its restaurant was a popular haunt of guests such as German singer-songwriter and former East German dissident Wolf Biermann and singer Nina Hagen, and as such was viewed with mistrust by the Stasi as a hotbed of anti-establishment thinking. Today things are somewhat quieter, with a kitchen specialising in traditional classic dishes, such as Königsberger Klopsen (meatballs with capers) or Swiss cheese fondue, which are both specialities of the house. The Honigmond takes great pride in the use of fresh ingredients cooked on the premises, and the restaurant is furnished with simple old wooden tables; candles provide an atmospheric ambience - creating a picture of another time.
