On arrival, as instructed, made our way to the Burrow Lounge. Waited, no-one there so went to reception.
Reception was dealing with a customer 'negotiating' an amount to pay and when it would come out of the bank. Flashed my booking paper around thinking receptionist might just give us directions....ignored, then waited five minutes to be told go through to main lounge.
Arrived in main lounge to find our reserved table had been dismantled by another member of staff after being laid up by Jack. Jack by the way was perfectly mannered and welcoming.
Food arrived. We were told that we could have more savouries and as much tea as we wanted but no more cakes. We weren't asked if we wanted wine, just told price excluded anything from the bar. You must have to deal with some real meanies!
Sandwiches were lovely so thought we'd be cheeky and ask for a few more, not greedy, one portion, between us.. Sorry says Jack the sandwich maker has gone home. Chef was prepared to do the preparation, he said, but there would be a delay as they were very busy. We went on to the cakes.
To be honest my wife really enjoyed her birthday treat but we did end up thinking it was all a bit unsatisfactory. We ended up laughing, not angry.
Had you not emailed me I was not going to say anything. As I said my wife enjoyed the tea which was what the afternoon was about.

Afternoon tea at hogarths Stone Manor was excellent, we went to celebrate my friends 50th birthday. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and dressed the table how we asked them too. The food was well presented and very tasty with a good selection of sandwiches and cakes plus plenty of tea. The prosecco was good too!!

The hotel is very comfortable and in lovely surroundings with very pleasant view.s Restaurant dining and meal was fine together with waiting staff in that area. However 3 out of 4 times recently the service in the bar area has been awful Not enough staff and on 2 occasions the same sole staff member was clearly .under trained. Our post lunch coffee ./ tea came at lengthy intervals with milk etc all came at different stages.. Part of the order wrong. Waited such a long time gave up in the end. We were not the only clients in that area who gave up. They seriously need to look at staffing in that area..

Booked Afternoon Tea and went with my mother and two daughters. The sandwiches where basic the cake selection average, overall the afternoon was pleasant (although rather chilly as we sat in the window in the lounge)

Very pleased with quantity, quality and variety of food provided. Though busy the waiter was polite and efficient

The hotel was fully renovated a couple of years ago and they have made a good job of giving a contemporary look and feel to all the rooms including the restaurant.
The service was good and the choice was was selective i.e. enough to interest and not too much to overwhelm. I had gin fish & chips, which came with an injection of vinegar, homemade tartar sauce and crushed peas, all very good. My wife had the lamb rump which was very good but not quite enough for her, I lost a few chips. We shared a chocolate fondant which was great.

Lovely meal served by lovely staff in a very comfortable setting. Compliments to the chef on food and presentation. I wpould like to comment on a past visit to your Solihull restaurant it is not as comfortable, and the set menu is less available than Stone manor.
