A sensitively restored pub in the village of Upton Grey, Hoddington Arms offers inventive gastro pub cuisine. Dine in the private garden in warmer weather, or in the bright dining room decked out in modern country-farmhouse style.
Dictated by the season’s best produce, the Hoddington Arms menu spans from light lunches and antipasti sharing boards, through to refined reinventions of pub classics. Alongside succulent grilled meats or the signature handmade Hoddington burger, enjoy fisherman’s pie topped with cheddar mash and seasonal vegetables, or maple-glazed pork belly with crispy crackling.
Affectionately known as ‘The Hodd’ to locals and brimming with classic pub charm, an impressive bar is stocked with a myriad of real ales. The pub’s very own brew is on offer, and a painstakingly-sourced wine list is supplied by 3 premium wine merchants.
Crackling open fires, cushion-scattered benches and squashy leather armchairs are dotted through the maze of cosy rooms at Hoddington Arms pub. Central Basingstoke is a 12-minute drive away.

A beautiful pub in a lovely village. The pub is tastefully furnished and the service was excellent. The food itself was attractively presented and tasted great. The menu was varied and there was plenty of choice. The wine was good too. We will definitely be returning!

Four of us including a coeliac had dinner. The menu wasn't extensive but was perfectly adequate. It catered for all our tastes from typical pub grub e.g. burger and chips to something a little different such as spinach and tomato dahl with samosas. However nothing on the menu was ordinary. The food was well presented and delicious. There was a wait between starter and main which indicated to us that the food was being freshly cooked. The staff were friendly and efficient and the whole feel of the pub was relaxed. The prices were higher than you might expect in a pub but this was reflected in the quality of the food. We had a truly lovely evening and if you're looking for a pub feel but with better than average pub food I would recommend this venue.

Having arrived we were greeted on arrival and shown to our table. We were a party of four and were looking forward to a nice quiet chat over lunch .While examining what we felt was a slightly limited menu we found it almost impossible to hear each other due to a noisy party of about 16 guests at the next table. We spoke to the very helpful staff who quickly found us another table at the other end of the restaurant and helped with the move, even lighting the fire as it wasn't a warm day. We found the food superb, the service from the busy staff really cheerful and helpful. We enjoyed our visit and will be returning to this true country pub. We felt it was quite expensive but we enjoyed the eating experience.
