Arrived earlier than expected to find we were the only ones in the place which should have make us turn straight round. Smell of paint and signs saying wet paint on pillars.
Sat down with first drink, and ordered meal. Room was like a wind tunnel presumably doors open to try to get rid of the smell of paint which in truth wasn’t too strong. Food was OK but service slow even though there were never more than 6 diners in the place. We were off to a concert and short on time otherwise would have walked out.
Throughout the meal there were workmen walking past with toolboxes etc.
Realise now they were deliberately slow to keep us in the place so the place didnt look empty to others entering, and wisely walking away.
My wife went to toilets, to be met by painter who told her the doors and frames were wet, she proceeded with care only to get paint on her hand from a handrail going down steps to the toilets below.
When she got to the Ladies there was another Painter, who warned her that the cubicle doors were wet and couldn’t be closed. She went to the far cubicle but used the loos with him in the room and unable to close the cubicle door. She only admitted this me an hour later otherwise I would had really kicked off!
Overall a farce, on leaving they offered us to VIP tickets to a revamp opening the following night which we declined. Clearly the work had overrun, but in truth they should have closed for the night rather than muddle on.

Went for a birthday treat with my boyfriend on a Saturday night at 8 pm. Have never been to Henry j beans before and not entirely sure I would return. Possibly due to it being a Saturday evening it was extremly noisy , however also felt like there was no atmosphere. Big groups at the bar killed any dining experience. Boyfriend had ribs which where really nice. Not sure about the price of nearly [$]. I had the salmon. Nice but not worth [$] and not very filling. Desserts cost [$] each and were pub standard or less. Cocktails [$] each and dissapointed with presentation. Wouldnt have wanted to pat more than [$] each. Total meal cost [$]. 2 mains, 2 desserts, 2 cocktails and 2 bottles of beer. Felt little disapointed. Staff friendly however not the best service. Would I return? Only if buy one get one free and never on a Saturday night. Oh and don't get a window seat in Manchester, opposite the gentle man's club , unless you want to get a good view of the staff!

we dined during lunch time. Whilst the food was good, the service was not so good . We waited quite a bit before we were greeted and shown the menu - this was despite the restaurant was almost empty ( any wonder ). The toilets were very smelly and dirty ... ewhh.
