Very welcoming staff. Very friendly. It was my sons birthday and they made a special effort. I'm a vegetarian and was hesitant to choose a 'steakhouse' but the beetroot salad was delicious.

Praised by many as the UK’s finest steak restaurant, Hawksmoor Manchester is the first opening outside London for the Hawksmoor empire. Set within a restored Victorian courthouse on Deansgate, this multi-award-winning restaurant is filled with stunning reclaimed pieces.

Headed by a range of door wedge-thick ‘large cuts’ ordered by desired weight (and ideal for sharing), the Hawksmoor menu also offers premium steak cuts, fresh fish and an array of luxury sides. Along with prime meat cuts from small British farms, enjoy indulgences like potted beef with bacon and Yorkshires, or roast scallops with tarragon & garlic. Must-try puddings include peanut butter shortbread with salted caramel ice cream, and ricotta crème brûlée with cherries.

The Sunday roast, voted the best in the UK by Observer Food Monthly, is served with perfected trimmings, with meat cuts including a slow-roast rump, or slow-roast prime rib. A revolutionary cocktail list at Hawksmoor in Manchester includes categories like ‘eye opening’ anti-fogmatics, and light afternoon ‘bridging drinks’.

Re-loved interior design pieces include glazed bricks from a Liverpool public toilet, parquet flooring and wood panelling retrieved from Birmingham's Sandwell College. Find Manchester’s Hawksmoor restaurant a 10-minute walk from Deansgate Train Station.

Dreary about sums it up. We were lead by the insanely caffeinated hostess to our table and seated. The menu looks amazing but nothing quite prepares you for the disappointment that follows. This begins with "summer salad" , which had all the effort put into that you'd expect from someone given a bag of watercress and asked to dump it on a plate. The rump was satisfactory. Cooked as requested but served in a deeply unappetising way, on a barely warm plate, solus. More thought had gone into the presentation of the condiments. Dessert was an epic fail. A mound of very average ice-cream with two small pieces of fruit.
Overall, a classic case of the menu getting ahead of the restaurant. Cynics might call the place a pot shot at your wallet for not much in return.

The staff are great, welcoming and very efficient. They offer help with decisions about food and drink without appearing supercilious. The atmosphere is great. Whenever we are in Manchester - usually for cricket - we try to get a table here.

Excellent. Good quality food. Gratuity lost simply because we were charged for the sauces that we were led to believe would be free but easily the best rump steak I've ever eaten.

Beautiful restaurant, great service and stunning food and cocktails. The star deal was excellent value for money. The Yorkshires were gorgeous. The steak was delectable and the sticky toffee was heavenly.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Hawksmoor. The interior decor was very stylish - we loved it. We ordered from the summer set menu and our starter potted beef with Yorkshire puddings was delicious. Next we had the rump steak which was cooked perfectly to our taste -medium - and this was delicious. I was a little disappointed that the only option for sides was chips or salad, I would have liked new potatoes or a baked potato. (I did ask the waiter but he said it's only chips or salad) I chose chips and they were very nice. I felt that the dish ought to have had some veg or salad rather than literally a piece of steak and some chips. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was delicious as was the passion fruit cheesecake. The peach and mint sundae was just ok.
Our waiter was very friendly and helpful too, we couldn't fault him. We would definitely go back.
