Restaurant description

The Second Floor Bar and Brasserie offers a relaxed yet stylish environment in which to enjoy all-day dining, overlooking the expansive views of Exchange Square. This elevated spot offers views over the city, and a black lacquered bar offers a fashionable selection.

A diverse mix of flavours, the Harvey Nichols menu spans from eclectic ‘little plates’ and wholesome bento boxes, to classic main courses. An array of exciting flavours can be found in the likes of tandoori monkfish with sticky mango rice, or pea and mint cannelloni with smoked feta, whilst hearty classics include a succulent signature HN burger, or Atlantic-caught cod with chunky chips.

Innovative twists for dessert include a salted caramel pot au chocolat with hazelnut shortbread, and Vimto summer pudding with clotted cream. Chic and sultry seasonal cocktails are served at the Second Floor Bar, and delicious offerings for brunch include streaky bacon and maple syrup waffles, and classic eggs benedict.

Set in one of Manchester’s most iconic buildings, Harvey Nichols Brasserie is a 6-minute walk from Manchester Victoria Rail Station.

Food was good we went for the bottomless 3 course menu. We had limited time unfortunately as we were attending a concert at the arena. I had called in the morning to change my booking by 15 minutes but when we arrived we were told the table had gone as we didn’t arrive at 5pm. Advised I called up and the lady said no problem can still get us in, but she had to go and prepare a table. Service was very slow, but the restaurant was busy. We did have to chase someone to take a drinks order and food order. We then had to chase for our main course as we were still eating at 6.20 bearing in mind we arrived just after 5.15 pm. We also had to ask for our drinks to be filled up which made the bottomless option not so favourable. My sister in law was given the wrong main course however as we were very stuck to time we didn’t mention it and she ate it anyway as we had little time left. All in all it wasn’t a great experience although the food was nice. I was here a couple of weeks previously prior to another event at the arena, and I booked for a friend the night before this weekends visit. After our poor experience this weekend I will be unlikely to re book for some time.

Despite being empty I didn't get the table I asked for. The restaurant was very cold as was the main courses. Staff were incredibly attentive. This was a special occasion, and we did expect better.

It’s been some years since my last visit and all change from - separate restaurant and brasserie to all brasserie. We booked our table for 5.30pm on a Saturday and was shown straight to our table. The new format works and great atmosphere throughout. Usual fantastic service that you expect from HN, and the food was good quality, great flavours and very good value for money. We had the 3 course and cocktail deal. Our kids who are a bit fussy were well catered for and our daughter had a plain burger which she commented “it was the best she had ever had”. Will no doubt return soon.
