The sundae selection loads real dairy ice cream with toppings like warm chocolate fudge brownie, raspberries and honeycomb pieces, while classic British options like Bramley apple pie sit alongside international twists like key lime pie. We won't be going back: there was not enough waiting staff which resulted in delayed service. We were there for a total of 3 hours due to waiting for service.

Most of the items we requested from the menu were not available. The poor waitress was so embarrassed and kindly offered a free dessert. A gratefully received gesture but not enough for us to consider returning sadly.

I haven't eaten in a harvester for a year and I was pleased to see that the salad bar was as good as it was back then. Obviously the menu has changed but I find that there are too many chocolate desserts listed - of course there are other favourites m cherry pie, sticky toffee pudding etc. but it would be nice to see something a little lighter that's not ice cream.

This may be our last visit to Harvester.
We don't expect Michelin-star dining, as we know that budget prices means budget food... but this Harvester has gotten progressively worse over the years. On the rare occasion you turn up and everything on the menu is actually available, the food is almost always below standard. It seems portion sizes have decreased since the last time I came a few months ago. While the variety for vegetarians has improved, the quality of that food is far from good. The bean-based burger I had ended up only being half-eaten because it was just so unappetising.
Add this to the cacophony of children that parents seem to feel are free to run around the place like a playground and scream at the top of their lungs, and all-in-all it is a highly unenjoyable experience. Every time I've been over the past few years, I ask myself "Why do I come here?".

One of the few redeeming factors was that there was a free refills option on soda fountain drinks, which meant you could at least drink something other than water at your leisure for an affordable price. However, Harvester has now removed the free refills, and soft drinks are prohibitively expensive (almost £3 for a pint of coke, if I remember correctly).

So, this will be our last trip. If the Brewers Fayre just down the road does free refills, we'll get our disappointing budget dinner there.

My parties welcome and service was great, the waitress was very pleasant and professional. She was however let down by very bland meals (not sure how you can sex up a chicken salad but it needed something!) blocked salt shakers and an incredibly rude colleague. Her colleague ignored a large party waiting to be seated and when they spoke to her she was really sarcastic, not a great start to their dining experience.
