Friendly and welcoming staff, who were very patient with an elderly disabled lady in our group of five. Food served quickly, but could have been presented better. Excellent location within the Brighton Marina cpmlex

I and my guests had a pleasant experience dining at the Katarina, Brighton. Nothing too fancy, just good, solid fare, reasonably priced and in a good, lively atmosphere. We liked the varied menu and the choice therein, also to be able to choose various sides. The salad bar was adequate, nothing outstanding, just basic items. Just a bit concerned that the salad bar [although free to visit as many times as you wished] was open plan, with no perspex or glass barrier in place to stop customers possibly coughing or sneezing over the food. Is this a hygiene issue?. Most eateries I have visited with a salad bar do have some kind of barrier[s] in place. That aside, we ordered steaks which were good, of reasonable quality, cooked to our specification and tasty. Due to visiting the salad bar a couple of times, I was unable to finish the main meal but the waitress bagged up the steak and chips for me to carry out. Special mention must be made to Editya, the very helpful, cheerful and efficient waitress who made sure we were looked after. All in all, a good meal in an attractive setting, at a reasonable price.

We arrived early and were shown to our table. The waitress suggested we order asap because there was a group of twenty plus people in the restaurant and if they got their orders in first, we might have a wait. The service was very good, staff very polite and helpful. We were sat at a lovely window seat with a view across Brighton marina. An added bonus was that we were able to see the fireworks display further along the seafront from where we were sitting.

The food we had yesterday was not up to the usual standard, having eaten here several times before. The macaroni cheese had very little sauce and the vegetables had been stuck on top, maybe to hide this fact. The chips on the fish and chip meals were dry as if they had been standing for half an hour before serving. The fish was not cooked through properly and lacked taste. The waffle sandwich dessert did not have any raspberries as advertised. The Jamaican boneless beef rib lacked sauce and was not as nice as on previous occasions. The festive brownie pudding was more like a Christmas pudding than a brownie. The one plus factor was that the staff were excellent, friendly and attentive.

Was disappointed because lift wasn't working and had to go downstairs. Birthday card for my daughter had been ordered but was not served downstairs. Food excellent tho.

Me & my family are regular customers, we always have a lovely time & sometimes bring friends along too. The service is brilliant, the meals are always lovely, very reasonably priced & portion sizes are very good too. We have also been on Christmas day for the past 3 years & have already booked for this year.
