Restaurant description

In a majestive brick building close to the seafront, Harry Ramsden’s Eastbourne occupies a prime position in this favourite coastal town. Look out onto the bustle of the street through big sash windows, or dine at pretty al fresco tables.

Famed for its classic fish and chips and a closely guarded secret recipe, Harry Ramsden’s restaurants are a true favourite amongst the nation. Found in various UK locations, Harry Ramsden’s is a British institution, having served delicious fish dishes and British classics since 1928, when Harry Ramsden set up his first takeaway store.

Fresh and carefully sourced, the cod, plaice and haddock are deliciously battered and served with homemade chunky chips, and soused with salt and vinegar. Beautifully fresh fish isn’t all Harry Ramsden’s is famous for: the menu boasts great British dishes such as the mouth-watering premium pie and mash, or the chicken and scampi special. Harry Ramsden’s chip shop also has a fun and tasty kids' menu for the little ones, and signature dishes for senior diners.

A short stroll from Eastbourne Pier, Harry Ramsden’s restaurant is also just a 9-minute wander from Eastbourne Rail Station.

Good size portions, friendly staff. Effective social distancing and rule of six was evidently being enforced.

I chose the 'Over 60s' special, which I enjoyed, especially the fish and chips but would have liked a little more bread and butter pudding. However, overall, it was good value for money.

Good location with views over to the pier.Staff are friendly. The food can be hit and miss and unfortunately this time we were disappointed. The chips were cold and the batter soggy.
