Restaurant description

A stone’s throw from the seafront, Harry Ramsden’s Eastbeach occupies a prime position in this favourite coastal town. At this much-loved fish and chip restaurant, guests can dine at al fresco tables and enjoy views out onto the promenade and fairground rides.

Famed for its classic fish and chips and a closely guarded secret recipe, Harry Ramsden’s restaurants are a true favourite amongst the nation. Found in various UK locations, Harry Ramsden’s is a British institution, having served delicious fish dishes and British classics since 1928, when Harry Ramsden set up his first takeaway store.

Fresh and carefully sourced, the cod, plaice and haddock are deliciously battered and served with homemade chunky chips, and soused with salt and vinegar. Beautifully fresh fish isn’t all Harry Ramsden’s is famous for: the menu boasts great British dishes such as the mouth-watering premium pie and mash, or the chicken and scampi special. Harry Ramsden’s chip shop also has a fun and tasty kids' menu for the little ones, and signature dishes for senior diners.

Harry Ramsden’s restaurant Bournemouth is a 6-minute drive from Bournemouth Rail Station.

Very Disappointed, we went for my son’s birthday celebration, we booked ahead and asked for a seat by the window and that it was a celebration. When we arrived we were sat by the door which was freezing cold as there was a storm Saturday, although there was free tables by the window. The service was mediocre, we have been here before and had better. Food was really bad, the fish batter was dark and burnt looked like it was reheated, chips were also burnt looking but think that was more down to being cooked in dirty oil. I gave the girl candles to pop in my son’s dessert, but there was nothing special about it, she just handed him it, although she did wish him happy birthday as we left. For the money and occasion it was VERY disappointing, couldn’t recommend this for an occasion, have had better just calling in when down the beach for a walk . Not much Drink to choose from, none of the usual beers for the men to choose from.

Poor quality starters, cold and tiny portions of whitebait. One beer returned and one fish returned. Waitress very good

The waitress who served us was very friendly, polite and efficient. My wife and I were served within a few minutes of sitting down and our meal arrived about five or six minutes later. We both had standard cod and chips with mushy peas followed by one bread and butter pudding and one sticky toffee pudding. The standard of the fish was good but the chips were not the best. They were not hot, and there were a lot of hard small chips in amongst the larger chips. Not really up to the high standard that we have encountered at Harry Ramsdens in the past.

Restaurant had no record of my booking even though I had a confirmation email. Very busy so waited at least 15 minutes before order taken. However food was excellent and girl waiting tables in our area made remarkable efforts to get everyone seen to.
