Food, service, wine all excellent. Restaurant is really nicely spaced and doesn't feel at all crowded like many other places.

Great food, well presented. Generous portion of meat, venison, tender and tasty. Potatoes & kale as veg good but another veg would have been appreciated. Buttermilk dessert has lovely flavour.

    Absolutely brilliant.
Casually rustic with well spaced tables and the food and service were special. The a la carte menu was sensibly short and the flavours of all the dishes we chose were mouth-watering.
They know how to cook here!
The wine list contains some gems and contains something for everyone.
In short we loved every minute, and are just sad that we live so far away.

Such a high standard and keeps delivering. I love the table by the fire. It feels special and celebratory yet cosy.
The Amuse Bouche was delicious, as was the home-baked bread. Hubby was happy with the lamb esp the mint sauce. And the madelines were well worth piling on as a greedy second dessert! Thanks for the candle for my mother-in-law- it was a nice surprise for her birthday.

Quiet on a lunchtime, well it was when I was there, only 4 tables occupied. Really nice country pub with excellent dining facilities. Food was great, locally sourced, very well cooked and nicely presented. Service - as one would expect from such a well run establishment, efficient, unobtrusive and with a smile.

Always an interesting and well cooked menu here. The amuse bouche of mushroom soup just blew us away, crispy pig cheek was perfect, main course of lamb two ways was good, but the pudding, a blackcurrent soufflé, was the crowning glory. Service excellent. We like the open plan, pubby interior, informal vibe. We will be back.
