Formerly the cobbled driveway to the original station, Hansom Lounge at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London offers a selection of light bites and refined afternoon tea. The historic building has retained many original features including a vaulted roof and Barlow Blue girders.

Light bites on the Hansom Lounge menu include fresh sandwiches and salads, as well as hearty burgers with fries. Sharing boards include an artisan cheese board and a Mediterranean selection, whilst baked passion fruit cheesecake and rhubarb soufflé are amongst the indulgent desserts.

Afternoon tea at Hansom Lounge King’s Cross exudes quintessential indulgence. Start with a selection of sandwiches, including salt beef with mustard & pickles, Scottish salmon with dill crème fraiche, and roast chicken with fennel & orange. On the sweet section of the menu, scones, cream and jam are joined by the likes of coffee & amaretto panna cotta, and raspberry Victoria sandwich. As well as a range of teas, the afternoon tea menu is topped off by a choice of cocktails and champagne.

Housed in an iconic building, Hansom Lounge London sits next to Kings Cross and St Pancras Rail Stations.

    Service was amazing.
Not impressed with scones or cake selection. The scones were dry and crumbly. The cake was very dry. Not able to eat it. It was not value for money.

I love the St Pancras Renaissance, I wanted to love having afternoon tea there as having eaten at The Booking Office and the Gilbert Scott I have had nothing but fabulous experiences. Sadly the afternoon tea did not live up to the same standards. It could have been so much more. First we were sat in very comfy chairs with a small table, in a very busy thoroughfare, with constant foot traffic, some of that rather drunken foot traffic. Combine that with dainty tea pots sat on the side in said walkway and you have the makings of a disaster. Which is precisely what happened to the ladies at the table opposite us. Tea and broken pots everywhere, and yet the walkway was not blocked, service just carried on as if nothing happened. The food was okay, it really could have been more imaginative on both the savoury and sweet offerings. I would say for the price I would just dine again in one of the other restaurants, where you have less chance of your dinner being knocked on the floor. My advice: put afternoon tea customers in one area of the rather massive lounge, or improve the service so that the tables are large enough to accommodate the full tea and food service. The lounge area is fine for a drink and connecting with friends, not fine for relaxing tea.

Afternoon tea, table for two, one vegan. Non-vegan sandwiches and cakes great. Vegan sandwiches were great, desserts and scones really poor, not one cake. The architecture of the building is beautiful; service was fantastic, chairs, tables, and presentation of the afternoon tea were mediocre.
