Restaurant description

A New York-style Italian restaurant and bar from Michelin-starred Jason Atherton, Hai Cenato serves up a menu of small plates, pizzas and grill dishes. Found in Victoria’s Nova complex, counter seating and an open kitchen make for a vibrant, ultra-contemporary setting.

Made using British milled flour, sourdough pizzas lead the Hai Cenato menu, with speciality toppings including homemade fennel sausage and prosciutto, and confit lamb neck with aubergine and ras el hanout. Elsewhere on the menu, find grill specials like chargrilled Cornish monkfish with panzanella salad, or grilled Cumbrian rump of lamb with English ricotta, as well as Italian classics like risotto of mascarpone and braised rabbit, and glazed beef shin ragu.

Weekend brunch at Hai Cenato restaurant sees menu staples joined by a breakfast pizza with sausage and slow-poached egg, and French toast with Amalfi lemon curd and blueberries. From the bar comes a selection of signature and classic cocktails, as well as an extensive wine list.

Really friendly and relaxed atmosphere here. The staff were attentive and food came quite quickly. I would have liked a bit more choice from the pizza section of the menu as what was available is not my typical choice for toppings but our waitress was very helpful and gave some guidance on what to choose and in the end I had a fantastic pizza in front of me! A bit more clarity over the pasta sizes would be helpful as the menu suggests you can have a small or a large. We ordered a large and it was so small that we had to double check that it was really a large. Had we had known the pasta portion sizes were on the small size we would have ordered another pizza as the pizza was very filling. But overall our dining experience was great...the happy hour cocktails were a bonus feature as well :-)

I arrived at 6:20 and was promptly seated. I knew my husband would be late, and we were heading to the theatre, so I ordered food right away. By 7:10, the food had still not arrived (not even the appetizer), and the manager came over and apologized, saying there was an issue in the kitchen. He offered us a free dessert (that we most definitely didn't have time for). Finally our food came, we ate in about 3 minutes, and left. The food was ok - not fabulous and not worth the wait. They did take the appetizer off the bill (after I told them to cancel it, so we actually never got it), and they did bring us a dessert. But I would not recommend going here before a show unless you give yourself loads of time.

We were late and therefore in a rush. Despite being busy, the service was so efficient. This didn’t take away from the fabulous Bellini and food. Best arrancini EVER!

Overall the food was very good. The risotto was aldante and the starters with pharma ham was yummy. However the pizza as a main was really too large to be made a main for pre theatre meal. We had 2 pastas and 2 pizzas that came with the pre theatre set and it was overwhelming for 4 pax. We packed 1 pizza and we were forced to give it away as they don’t allow us to carry takeaways into the theatre. So it’s abit at odds with a pre theatre set. The staff was friendly and very good.

We nearly left as our initial drinks took 20 mins to arrive in an almost empty restaurant.

We were seated very quickly, and were taken care of by attentive and friendly staff. The food was lovely, with a wide range of pizzas using far ranging ingredients. The Pecorino & Wild mushroom Arancini were DIVINE and would thoroughly recommend. great location, very close to the theatres around Victoria and perfect for our pre-theatre needs.

Very close to theatre offering pre theatre menu which was well priced However it was not made clear when I paid the bill that service charge was included. Lesson learned to read bill very closely. I was in hurry to get to theatre! Left tip as well so turned out to be rather expensive. Food was good though. Wine expensive

We went to Hai Cenato for dinner after seeing Hamilton, unfortunately we were over an hour late for our booking. However, I must applaud the manager and staff who could not have been more helpful despite the fact that they had already started to close down the kitchens for the night. We were encouraged to stay, the pizza ovens were switched back on and we had delicious pizzas and drinks, served by attentive and accommodating staff. They even appeared with an ice cream and Birthday candle for one of our guests without any prompting. Its amazing in this day & age and especially in London to receive such excellent service. The food was also really fantastic. Would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant as a great place to dine, but best to come before Hamilton as the show finishes later than expected. Will definitely return to try out all the other dishes on the menu.
