Restaurant description

Old oak barrels and dark wood panels adorn Habit in London, a Davy’s wine bar serving classic British comfort food near Fenchurch Street. Guests can enjoy Davy’s own label wines and signature Old Wallop real ale on the al fresco terrace.

The varied Habit menu is full of hearty pub fare with fresh inspiration, lead with the finest aged steaks from Donald Russell. Start with duck liver pâté with toasted sourdough bread, or Cornish crab cakes, before classic bangers and mash with Madeira gravy or fish and triple-cooked chips.

Be sure to sample Habit restaurant’s homely desserts, including chocolate hazelnut brownie with ice cream and hot chocolate fudge sauce, apple and apricot crumble drenched in custard. Fine British cheeses like Somerset Brie and Blue Monday compliment a pint of real ale or lager from the Habit bar.

Knowlegeable staff are happy to guide you through the fulsome Davy’s list of hand-picked vintage wines. Habit in London is a 4-minute walk from Aldgate Tube Station.

Varied menu with good quality cooked dishes. Very friendly and attentive waitresses. Good venu for a business lunch.

A very pleasant restaurant hidden beneath the City streets. Plenty of room between the tables to allow for private conversations and a decent choice of food and drink available on the menu. Service is prompt and there is an adjoining bar for meeting beforehand or hanging around after the meal.

You could see that they were slightly short staffed, however, they still managed to provide fantastic service and as for the food...Seafood Linguine was amazing ! Suggest booking ahead as it is very popular.

My meal was fine, shame about not even having potatoes included in the main course price. My wife's meal was a disaster. You could slice the carrot soup it was so thick and her mushroom and courgette risotto contained very few of either and was very runny - more like a rice pudding. I tried a mouthful and agreed that it was very bland with very little flavour. We did point these problems out and our bill was adjusted. They then committed the cardinal sin and, after giving me the bill and me pointing out we had to go to catch a train, they then left us and we had to chase them to actually pay the bill. One day I hope I have the bottle to just walk out of a restaurant that doesn't want to take my money. They are the ones who wants the money, I don't necessarily want to pay the bill. Not a good experience and I doubt if we will return to a Daveys pub in the future.
