A contemporary but elegant haunt overlooking Charlotte Square in Edinburgh, George Street Bar and Grill serves classic European cuisine from a refined menu. Tender Scottish lamb matched with shallots, capers, lemon and olive oil leads the eclectic menu, together with seared foie gras, duck eggs and toaste brioche. A decadent afternoon tea and authentic Italian coffees are served at the trendy cocktail bar, and include a traditional affogato coffee, served with creamy vanilla ice cream and drowned in hot espresso and liqueur.

Food was good, well presented and well cooked, but service was poor. For most of our visit there were no staff to be seen, had to wander the building looking for a staff member to even be seated.
When staff were present they were polite and friendly, but service was slow.
The establishment looked lovely, the food was delicious, but the place was empty.....is the service an ongoing issue?

Booked here for a New Years day late lunch. Loved the place. Nice and quiet at 3pm with very attentive staff. Also great that they did not try to rip off customers with an inflated price menu as others do, providing their normal menus. The starter, main and desert were superb and great value for money.
The staff were great and friendly and a credit to the place.

If I had one slight criticism it is that the toilets need upgrading to keep in line with the restaurant and bar

Food was very good but service to begin with was very poor. There was no small changes allowed to the set menu, even though that wasn't the menu I viewed on line. They forgot to bring bread rolls to the table and the drink service was slow. I also wanted a later slot for dinner but there was no availability, when we got there and the whole time we were there there were plenty of free tables, in fact the restaurant was very quiet.

The food. when it finally arrived, was excellent. The service was poor. We did complain, but instead of an apology we were told there was a large group and they were busy.....wrong reaction......... Would I recommend the restaurant to a friend, perhaps. I would advise staff training, for the male member of staff wearing a suit, specifically on how to deal with customer complaints.
