Nice ambiance, friendly staff and excellent Sunday roast. A bit on the pricey side but certainly worth the trip to Sevenoaks if you're planning on looking around the surrounding area as well.

Brimming with historic charm, George and Dragon Chipstead is housed in an enchanting 16th-century inn. Crackling log fires and gnarled beams feature indoors, or a contemporary patio offers al fresco dining.

Serving refined British flavours, the George and Dragon menu offers a daily-changing selection. Sourcing from trusted British suppliers, the George and Dragon Chipstead champions local and seasonal produce. Sustainable fish stocks and wholly organic or free range meats are used in dishes like slow-cooked duck leg with gooseberry compote, and Devon crab linguine. Freshly baked bread with English butter offers a delightfully homely touch.

Alongside a sophisticated wine list, George and Dragon restaurant takes full advantage of the local Westerham brewery. As well as a range of cask ales from the brewery, the signature “George’s Marvellous Medicine” is a popular choice.

The George and Dragon blends warm hospitality and fresh, modern flourishes. Sevenoaks Rail Station is 6 minutes’ drive away.

The table was set for us and they seemed ready but the service was a bit slow and re-active rather than proactive The food was well cooked and tasty when it arrived
I specifically asked for cream with desert and got ice cream
The location is good with potential for walks near local lake

We asked for two steaks one medium rare ribeye, one medium sirloin. The sirloin arrived red in the middle, the ribeye brown all the way through. We had the impression, on looking at the steaks in detail, that the sirloin had been cooked medium rare and vice-versa.
The venison tagine was in a vert hot dish, but the parts of the dish not in contact with the very hot dish were tepid. The accompanying hot couscous was served in a stone cold dish, and consequently, the couscous itself was cold after a couple of minutes. Pity, because the seasoning and flavour of the tagine were very good.
The parsnip and whisky sticky toffee pudding tasted of neither whisky nor parsnip, so not special at all, but an acceptable pudding anyway.
Biggest disappointment was the lack of courtesy exhibited by the chap showing off his extensive tattoos, conducting us to the table. He merely pointed at the table, then disappeared, leaving us to install ourselves. After 3 mins he returned with what looked like a grubby water jug, and offered only that -- no option of mineral water or fizzy water, no indication of who drinks would be offered. "You guys want some water - tap water?" We later had to ask for more water, since the place was apparently so short of jugs, one could not be left on the table.
The same person later served the sticky pudding dessert, but the ice-cream topping had slithered off the top of the pudding leaving a kind of snail-trail of ice-cream across the top often dark top of the pudding itself, because he had carried it clumsily. He announced, "Here's the pudding, but the ice cream has slipped often top", then plonked it down on the table and disappeared.
He addressed our group (3 people) as "you guys" whenever speaking to us. Intensely irritating.
We would have come back to the G&D often, but the lack of courtesy displayed by this man, in stark contrast to the manner and welcome by the waitress, means that we will not be returning. Courtesy and manners cost nothing.

I am a pescatarian, so I found one main course on the menu which was a COD dish. It was very nice but I was disappointed that there were no vegetables with the dish. At £16.95 I was expecting some vegetables. My husband chose the beef pie. Sorry to say he was disappointed. He often chooses a pie so has many comparisons. Having recently eaten out with a friend who is unemployed, they went to a weatherspoons and frankly your pie was no better except weatherspoons was £6.00. We also felt that the service was very efficient to the point of feeling rushed. Not sure we will be returning.

Very limited menu, (ONLY 8 MAINS & 2 GRILLED ITEMS) but we both enjoyed what we chose.
Very friendly waiters, but dinner took far too long to arrive (OVER 1 HOUR)
    Nice setting in small village
    car park too small
Overall, does not represent good value for money

Lovely pub with a real fire. 3 friends used as a 'meet in the middle' between Hants, Essex & London. Friendly staff, delicious food, and reasonable prices for a very nice meal; my steak was absolutely perfect. Only very minor downside is the small'ish car park; had to park up the road on the High Street.

The food was well presented and delivered at nice pace i.e. not rushed. Booking was easy via website. Enough choice on offer via the menu. The only small grip was that the pork was a bit fatty. Otherwise all tasted beautiful and with a non intrusive service.

Another lovely meal at The G&D. The venison tagline was incredible and got top marks from us
