Friendly service and nice location, food was tasty and generous portions. Value for money for the set meals. Highly recommended.

Described as ‘pulling on the heartstrings of nostalgia’ by acclaimed critic Fay Maschler, Geales Notting Hill offers superbly fresh fish and seafood. A neighbourhood favourite established in 1939, Geales celebrates glorious Great British cuisine in a sustainable fashion.

Branded as London’s ‘posh fish and chippy’, the Geales menu offers hearty comfort food with a sophisticated edge. Sourcing from sustainable fish stocks, perfectly grilled fillets sit next to the nation’s favourite, cod in crispy batter. Specials come fresh from Devon and Cornwall, and favourites include dressed crab, salmon and leek fishcakes and oysters straight from the bar.

Continuing the British theme, classic desserts at Geales Notting Hill include bread and butter pudding with Baileys custard, all washed down with dandelion and burdock or cream soda.

Subdued yet chic, Geales London offsets glossy grey walls and black leather benches with glittering antique mirrors. Notting Hill Gate Tube Station is just 2 minutes’ walk away.

The food was excellent, especially --naturally-- the fish selections. Although they were out of fish pie, my table had salmon fillet, fish and chips, and a large salad with tuna. All were tasty and reasonably priced. The service was friendly and prompt. I think Geales is a neighborhood gem.

The meal was rather disappointing. We were shocked at how dirty the menus were. The food was ok. I had the haddock with egg spinach and hollandaise but the hollandaise was almost non existent. My brother had tuna Nicoise but it was just tuna on lettuce not the usual nicoise ingredients the chips were delicious and staff charming.

Great food and good atmosphere. Not cheap but reasonable value. Unfortunately the music was very loud when we arrived (ca 6pm) but staff turned it down on request.

Great fish and chips and very kind “just like home “ welcome

We had a lovely evening at Geale’s. The staff were wonderfully relaxed about what time we arrived (we had some last minute changes) and set a super laid back vibe at the place, in a good way. I had delicious fish and chips, my hub had a nice fish pie and our friend had the plaice, which was apparently very good. Would return, for sure

Very disappointing. I had fond memories of Geales from years ago and had high expectations. But my starter, a prawn cocktail was poorly presented (bit of lettuce, tiny prawns, no lemon, no spoon, no plate) and inedible because there was so much paprika on it. The fish without chips was small and cost almost £15.00. The chips were the worst fag end bits of potato I've ever had and the mushy peas were dry. Terrible meal. Staff looked embarrassed when I pointed out the problems but still put the prawn cocktail on the bill. It was taken off in the end.

Excellent! Cuisine traditionnelle anglaise simple et délicieuse. Du Fish and chips au sticky toffee pudding (et je m'y connais en la matière ;))) tout était parfait!

Sadly this restaurant is going down hill. The staff just seem unable to cope with even a three quarters full restaurant.

Presentation was unappealing and execution was poor. Service was very slow
