Customer reviews for GBK Oldham
(((** 30 April 2017 by RMc from Oldham
I pre-booked a table for three of us...my self and my two teenage sons.
I only booked as I'd had one of GBK's promo emails through, and someone had recommended to go.
When it comes to burgers, we've been pretty hard pushed to find any better than Five Guys but thought we'd give this a go...and the promotion sounded like a reasonable deal...
I booked the table for 6:30... Free parking in Oldham after 6pm ??
On entering we were taken straight to a table and presented with the menus.
It was clear from the menu straight away that the 'deal' I'd received by email was a standard everyday price...A burger, drink and fries for £9.95.
The selection of burgers available in the deal was pretty limited, but then so is the menu at Five Guys. The difference at GBK is that you'll have to pay extra for the likes of bacon, dill pickles etc on your burgers. It all starts to add up.
The drinks were also limited to three different flavours of what would best be described as fizzy cordial...Strawberry & Elderflower, Ginger and Lemongrass etc
Although the price in the menu for these was the same as coke, there was no option to swap.
Service was pretty good, though the restaurant was about half full at this time.
Apparently (according to text in their promo email), if food doesn't arrive at your table within fifteen minutes then your next lunch there is free...
The food was served...with two minutes spare!
We'd ordered the deal, but chose some extras on top of cheeseburgers.
Skinny fries were added as part of the 'deal'
We all agreed that the burgers were pretty good...though nothing amazing.
The burger itself a little under-seasoned (We're real connoisseurs!!).
Add your own ketchup, mustard etc.
The fries were disappointing and tasteless. Definitely shoestring fries as opposed to skinny fries. We'd also added a side of sweet potato fries to try between us..pretty damned good!
The bill came to £40.85.
Overall, good service...average burgers...disappointing fries.
