GBK Cambridge offers sumptuous burgers in a casual setting to diners in the area. A table by the big windows is great for people watching and an eclectic range of drinks can be enjoyed at the bar.
Launched back in 2001 by 3 Kiwis, GBK offers a premium burger concept which sees over 10,000 burgers served up to its diners each day: always made fresh and cooked to order. Hand-crafted patties make up the varied GBK menu, with adventurous favourites including The Don and The Taxi Driver. Lamb, falafel and buffalo options mean even the most ardent burger buffs are catered for, and there's a lengthy list of fries and sides.
Salted caramel, peanut butter and banana are just some of the mind-meltingly good milkshakes at Gourmet Burger Kitchen, and thirst-quenching soft drinks are also served. Wines can be enjoyed by the glass, and there’s a good stock of cherry-picked international beers.
GBK in Cambridge is an 8-minute walk from the University of Cambridge while Cambridge Rail Station is a 5-minute drive away.

Very enjoyable sitting by a table looking out on Parker's Piece. Food was good and the service attentive.

Food was fine but did not like the lack of waitress service. Call me old fashioned, but if I go to a restaurant (even if it is only for a burger) I would prefer not to have to go up to the counter to order! We ordered drinks whilst we decided what to order for lunch and even had to pay for the drinks there and then rather than all together at the end. I know it is just a burger place but it isn't McDonalds and I would have liked to have a sociable, friendly waiter service - is it too much to ask for someone to take our order? Surely that way there is more chance of people buying extras, etc and leaving a tip. It was not particularly warm in there either, so instead ordering dessert or more drinks we were keen to leave. Also, when we booked I had put a note that it was my daughter's birthday and not a thing was said. The food was good, our children loved the extra skinny fries and the peanut butter and salted caramel milkshakes were yummy but if I'm going to spend over £50 on lunch I would like it to be in a friendlier place and not have to go to the counter to order. It was a cold, rainy day and it wouldn't have taken much to lift our spirits but none of the staff really made the effort to. For that reason I would not go there again.

staff lovely, few mistakes with food timings but made up for it by funny, friendly faces maybe more healthier options?

Food was delicious as usual, great location. Tables are a bit packed next to each other so not the best if you would like to have some space from other groups.

Very good food and fantastic service. We had one more person over the number we had originally booked for and although the restaurant was very busy the waiter was able to add another table for us rather than us all being squashed on a table of 4. He did this without being asked. Very good value for money, the kids and my dad were very impressed, as was I.

Excellent value for students- we always get a discount or free food when we are here using the GBK app, even when the main deal isn't available (Fridays and weekends I think) because of accumulated vouchers through the app. We got 3 burgers, sweet potato fries, normal fries and drinks for roughly 30 pounds. The restaurant also has a counter with free unshelled peanuts and water to help yourself to, so you can enjoy these while waiting for your order and after finishing your burger if you feel like chatting and staying a bit longer. The food arrived very quickly and the service was excellent, being attentive and making sure we were aware of all the deals. The burgers were delicious as always - the patties are juicier than byron burgers (which are too dry in my opinion, despite being in the same price range) and the range of different burgers and flavours is much better. We got our burgers cooked to different levels (medium rare, medium, well-done) but everyone in my party enjoyed theirs. I had a blue cheese burger (the blue cheese sauce is delicious and not too creamy or heavy) which is my usual favourite, although I also like the habanero burger quite a lot. The restaurant was not as busy as it usually is on a Friday, so others might have to wait longer to get served. It was easy to reserve in advance, so we didn't have to wait for a table, but on this occasion we wouldn't have had to anyway. We had a booth next to the window in the corner of the room which was spacious and meant that we didn't have people walking around us- if you book here for multiple people I would suggest asking for one of the booths since they are comfortable, convenient seats. GBK has fantastic milkshakes, but I don't usually order them because they are very pricey unfortunately (about half the cost of a basic burger)- it would be great if there was some sort of discount on the milkshakes possible without preventing the use of other deals.
