London got its first gourmet burger destination in the form of GBK Battersea. The venue is an ideal spot for alfresco dining in summer and freshly-stirred cocktails are served at the bar.
Launched back in 2001 by 3 Kiwis, GBK offers a premium burger concept which sees over 10,000 burgers served up to its diners each day: always made fresh and cooked to order. Hand-crafted patties make up the varied GBK menu, with adventurous favourites including The Don and The Taxi Driver. Lamb, falafel and buffalo options mean even the most ardent burger buffs are catered for, and there's a lengthy list of fries and sides.
Salted caramel, peanut butter and banana are just some of the mind-meltingly good milkshakes at Gourmet Burger Kitchen, and thirst-quenching soft drinks are also served. Wines can be enjoyed by the glass, and there’s a good stock of cherry-picked international beers.
A welcoming retreat for Battersea diners, GBK in Battersea is a 7-minute drive from Clapham Junction Rail Station.

Friendly staff, really tasty burgers and sides. Impressive. Quite small place is the only down side.

Great burgers, both the chicken and beef. Drinks were refreshing too, particularly the strawberry and elderflower mixer which was a free refill drink. Best part was the children's menu - they get a lot for £6.95. Mine chose the Oreo milkshake and absolutely loved it. Seating is slightly cramped for a family of 4 and people kept coming in for takeaway orders so it was incredibly busy. But for a quick night out, GBK always wins.
