One of London's oldest and most respected Indian restaurants, Gaylord Restaurant has been serving exotic recipes since 1966. This traditional, elegant eatery serves all kinds of colourful dishes made using time-honoured techniques, including special menus for little ones.

As well as featuring larger main dishes, the Gaylord Restaurant menu also serves an innovative take on Indian street food dishes, perfect for sharing. Start with signature soft tacos filled with treats like lamb seekh kebab or tender pulled chicken, or the vegetarian potato cakes filled with lentils and aromatic spices. From the tandoori oven there are tiger prawns marinated with saffron, while the signature main options include fiery lamb rogan josh.

Freshly baked breads make perfect accompaniments to any meal at Gaylord Restaurant in Fitzrovia, and there are sumptuous desserts like traditional gulab jamun to finish. On the drinks menu, sample something from the extensive wine and spirits lists, or go for one of the Indian-influenced cocktails.

An elegant Indian restaurant in London with a long history of excellence, Gaylord Restaurant London is just 2 minutes' walk from Oxford Circus Tube Station.

Fantastic meal and service as usual!!

The food was very disappointing. I have been visiting Gaylord ever since its inception in mid-60s and even had our daughter's wedding catering done by them. The food was much superior then. Moreover, they forgot to deduct the 20% discount from the bill, which I did not notice at the time. To their credit though they did refund the amount the next day. Food needs to improve by leaps and bounds.

    good food

The chicken dish was excellent but the waiter took the wrong order instead of mattar paneer brought aloo mattar. By the time mattar paneer came we had almost finished our meal. Mattar paneer was watery and the service was sub standard. Tandoori roti was far too thin despite making request for it to be made thicker.

The food and drinks are overpriced. We didn't enjoy one of the dishes we ordered (the chicken was too tough) and the nan bread were crispy rather than being soft.
