Restaurant description

Perched on the banks of the Thames and offering superb river views, Gaucho Richmond offers luxurious South American cuisine. Offsetting the glitzy dining room with its floor-to-ceiling windows, the decked 130-seat terrace is a Gaucho highlight.

A renowned Argentinian steakhouse, Gaucho continues to serve some of the finest beef in the world, now complemented by a broader food and wine offering in a contemporary setting. Taking inspiration from modern Argentina and all of its global influences, fresh ingredients are used to create signature dishes such as steak with a choice of béarnaise or chimichurri sauce, pan-seared bream with pickled fennel and dill, and wild mushroom tagliatelle with Torrontés cream and tarragon.

Desserts at Gaucho in London are equally enticing, whilst classic and signature cocktails are joined by an impressive selection of wines from South America and beyond. Contemporary and edgy, Gaucho restaurants feature swathes of plush leather in dramatically decorated dining rooms.

In upmarket Richmond-upon-Thames, Gaucho steak house also boasts views of Richmond Bridge and Petersham Meadows from its chic cocktail bar.

Comfortable and stylish restaurant on the banks of the Thames. Extensive wine list and delicious menu leave you spoilt for choice, focus is clearly on the steaks which were melt in the mouth. Non meat eaters may wish to warn staff on arrival since a platter of raw steak is brought to the table to explain the different cuts.

Food very overpriced and very average/poor. My rump steak was tough - in fact very tough. The side dishes were small and very expensive. This is an example of a franchise or chain which relies on its name and is frankly not worth visiting. Will never go there again.

Service was a bit slow and we were really left to ourselves with no assistance from the staff I would have. Expected better. However the food as usual was very good.

I had a really pleasant meal at Gaucho, it's not the first time I've eaten here but this time was definitely the most enjoyable. The Bookatable deal was great value, the food was tasty and the service was incredibly friendly. I've not eaten inside Gaucho before (it's always been on the outside tables previously) and the ambience is great. I like the decor and there's a gentle burble of conversation so you can feel like you can hear the person next to you but not so quiet so you feel like you're eating in a library. My only slightly negative thing to say is that I had to confirm the table 3 times. Once via Bookatable sending a message, once by the restaurant emailing me and then I was still called on the day of the meal asking me to confirm I'd be there. It would be good if I could just confirm the once.

The chef grilled and cut my picanha exactly the way I asked for, and the waitress was helpful and polite. Their number 1 dessert is the dulce de leche cheesecake, which is delicious! All that in a perfect view to the Thames river.

Not as good as last time we went 5 weeks ago. The bread was not fresh. The steak Wes good but the recommended sauce was just not good at all. Last time we had chillies and herbs in oils that was awesome. Oh and the ginless cocktail was was a but token and we'll below average. We also had a caraf if wine that was terrible at £18.50 for 500ml it was very poor. All in all good value. The starters were very good apart from the empanada.

Very enjoyable dining experience. Went for the £26.50 three course deal and was delighted overall with the service and quality of food.

Lovely food and atmosphere, and enjoyable experience. When it became busier throughout the evening was very hot, which was a little uncomfortable at times but staff friendly just a little hard to get their attention for drinks. Would definitely come back again!! :)
