Restaurant description

With the dining room boasting prime River Thames views, Gaucho Canary offers a high-end take on traditional South American cuisine. Enjoy a lazy, Mediterranean-style atmosphere on the expansive summer terrace.

A renowned Argentinian steakhouse, the Gaucho menu presents an array of bold flavours. Taking inspiration from Latin American restaurants and culture, fresh ingredients are used to create signature dishes such as steak with a choice of béarnaise or chimichurri sauce, pan-seared bream with pickled fennel and dill, and the wild mushroom tagliatelle with Torrontés cream and tarragon.

Desserts at Gaucho in London are equally enticing, whilst classic and signature cocktails are joined by an impressive selection of wines from South America and beyond. Contemporary and edgy, Gaucho restaurants feature swathes of plush leather in dramatically decorated dining rooms.

Bringing a rich Latin American vibe to glitzy Canary Wharf, Gaucho sits right on the banks of the river. Westferry DLR Station is a 7-minute walk away.

Loved the restaurant. Best feature was probably presenting the various cuts of meat on a board to allow for better menu decisions. The food was delicious around the whole table, everyone was very impressed. Service was outstanding as well.

the waitress was very aggressive. we were having the set menu and the manager in the end agreed to swop a dessert for us. not enough staff in the restaurant had to wait ages to be served and call someone over in the end. the restaurant had maybe 10 people in it so this should not have happened.

Very quiet as we went at 5pm. We were on a deal (2 courses for £23). Food was good, not great. I had 250gm Ribeye which was very tasty and well cooked (£5 supplement), chips (which were cold but quickly replaced), a topping of four prawns (£9 !!!) and Mac and Cheese only just OK - nothing special. We had Lionel Messi Malbec wine which was fortuitous (and delicious) given the score of the game later that evening !!!! Saving grace for the evening was our server who was excellent. Struggled with English but nonetheless was a great chap who treated us really well! On balance £43/head for a steak dinner (not including the wine or service charge which was 12.5%) that was supposed to be on a deal was a bit much for my liking. I shudder to think what the a'la carte price would have come to !!! But I would come back if the service was guaranteed.

The Service was good. The food on the other hand, was very poor. I had my steak sent back at least three times, as it wasn’t cooked right. I asked for medium rare, however the steak came to me rare and very very bloody. Food lacked taste, and the ambience wasn’t nice at all. The restaurant was very loud, and very tight. The tables were cramped, we couldn’t wait to just get out. Food wasn’t worth the money or travel to be honest. This restaurant wasn’t for me, I will not be returning.
