Restaurant description

With the dining room boasting prime River Thames views, Gaucho Canary offers a high-end take on traditional South American cuisine. Enjoy a lazy, Mediterranean-style atmosphere on the expansive summer terrace.

A renowned Argentinian steakhouse, Gaucho continues to serve some of the finest beef in the world, now complemented by a broader food and wine offering in a contemporary setting. Taking inspiration from modern Argentina and all of its global influences, fresh ingredients are used to create signature dishes such as steak with a choice of béarnaise or chimichurri sauce, pan-seared bream with pickled fennel and dill, and wild mushroom tagliatelle with Torrontés cream and tarragon.

Desserts at Gaucho in London are equally enticing, whilst classic and signature cocktails are joined by an impressive selection of wines from South America and beyond. Contemporary and edgy, Gaucho restaurants feature swathes of plush leather in dramatically decorated dining rooms.

Bringing a rich Latin American vibe to glitzy Canary Wharf, Gaucho sits right on the banks of the river. Westferry DLR Station is a 7-minute walk away.

Me and my 2 friends went here for a birthday. The food was AMAZING. We loved every dish served. Cocktails and service. Location was a added benefit too!

Was greeted promptly and the hostess/ waitress was very pleasant, not overly friendly but very professional and pleasant, nothing to complain about she clearly had a sense of humor. She took our order and was very helpful in helping us to make up our minds never mind we had had the menu ahead of schedule. The food was well done and we had the set menu: veggie options were amazing - Humita Empanada; Beetroot Risotto; the meat options were as expected - Lamb Empanada and Ancho Steak. We both had dulce de leche ice cream and coffee - affogato really hit the spot and gave the punch!

Unbelievably disappointing, enough to make us avoid the Gaucho chain permanently. We were seated outside and once we had ordered our food asked the manager if we could be moved inside because it was so windy our glass had actually blown over. He said he’ll check and clearly forgot about us. We then asked a waiter who also did a disappearing act. We asked a third waitress who said that due to Covid outside guests aren’t allowed to mix with indoor guests? Don’t know why this wasn’t told to us at the beginning because we never would have committed to outdoor seating. The food was average, all lukewarm and nothing special. We asked for salt for our chips and then had to chase a second waitress for the salt 5 minutes into the food being placed infront of us. When the salt eventually came our chips were stone cold. The desk advertised was £22 for 2 courses or £26 for 3. We asked for the bill after our mains because we were freezing and bored of the terrible service. The waitress brought over a bill for £26pp, and said that regardless of whether we got dessert or not we had to be charged for it. This seemed like a ridiculous demand, which she never mentioned after our mains. We said fine we’ll have the brownie, 30 minutes later we were still sat freezing with no dessert. When I chased her up on it she apologised and said she forgot to put it through the till. I then asked to speak to the manager. Rubbish experience won’t be returning and I advise others to avoid

We arrived earlier and we were offered a seat immediately if we wanted it. Manager was even better than the waiters

Nice atmosphere and location, friendly bar staff and concierge however the food was very underwhelming and service through meal was a little frosty.

The service was amazing and the food couldn’t have been better value for money. It’s a little pricey but completely worth it. We had the set menu with Lomo steak - would highly recommend

I honestly babe to say my whole meal was not up yo standard. I would rate it 1/5. The scallop starter was awful, the salad that I has with my tiny steak was bland and nothing exciting to it. Awful

My friend & I were early, and therefore managed to be seated at our table early. The ambience was very nice, dark decor with bright lights that reflect onto the river front. The food was amazing, especially the lomo steak, asked for this medium to well done, and it was perfect. The only downside i'd say is that the air con was on and blowing too much warm air, and so we felt very hot indeed.
