    Always enjoy dining here. Dinner is best. Their in-house butchery and local wines are noteworthy.

    Went to that restaurant for Xmas dinner. In our opinion the price/value factor is absolutely not good at all.

    Wir wurden von ein Lehrling bedient. Drei mal falschen Wein ( aus Unkenntnis) serviert. Teuere Rotwein Flasche wurde nicht sofort geöffnet, sonst einfach bis Hauptgang
    auf Tisch gelegt. In Allgemein, man kann nicht für viel Geld , der Gast an Lehrling überlassen. Schade, es war lange unser Lieblings Restaurant, aber schon drei Mal innerhalb 6 Wochen äußerst unzufrieden.

    Meine Ehefrau und ich, waren schon oft mit Freunden als Gast in Ihrem Hause. Die Küche und das Bedienungs-Personal war immer zu unserer Zufriedenheit.
    Wir haben schon einige Leute Ihr Haus empfohlen.

    Störend ist, dass auf der Speisekarte im Netz Menus aufgeführt sind, welche es gar nicht mehr gibt, so ist heute am 23.11. nach wie vor das Trüffelmenu drauf, welches wir gerne gehabt hätten, aber uns nicht geachtet haben, dass es dieses nur bis 18.11. gibt, was zuerst zu einer kleinen Enttäuschung usererseits führte, weil wir die Datumsangaben nicht beachtet hatten. Dennoch haben wir sehr gut gegessen und würden den Ochsen gerne weiter empfehlen. Allerdings sind die Preise eher am obersten Limit.

    Wanted to provide overseas guests a Swiss culinary & atmospheric experience. Hence chose this restaurant as I have seen it often when in Arlesheim. This review is based on a lunch experience indoors (too cold for outdoor seating). The entrance: BRIGHT Light overload. Gleaming. Should have kept my sunglasses on. Experienced this as painful to the eyes. Then the entrance into the restaurant: a bottleneck. As it functions also as a wardrobe. With the cold weather, people wear heavy coats/jackets. So one is squeezed into that tiny cubicle, trying to get the coat off. Awkward. A most peculiar entrance. Plus: is there no 'fire-marshall' to inspect premises? This is a death-trap in case of fire. What were the architects thinking? (if at all?)
    Otherwise the ambience was very pleasant, once inside, I mean. No 'elevator music' or other distractions. What a treat to just hear voice murmurs, laughter. The table was nicely set, white table cloth (with Ox emblem) and white napkins, etc.
    We all chose meat dishes, and my friends were thrilled with their choice. I was underwhelmed with the 'Rehpfeffer'. Rather dense, and the sauce rather thin-ish. A another local butcher sells same, home-made dish, and it was certainly a much better food experience overall. (Flavour, etc)
    Spatzle though were excellent. Best I had in years. So light and flavourful.
    The wine, a local one as I wanted to showcase food/drink from nearby sources, was, well: flat. From Aesch. I had had Arleser Wine (white) this summer and was delighted; of course hoped for a similar experience. No luck. Barely finished that one glass I had.
    The meat-portions were certainly ample. Nice touch also to receive the welcome 'Pastete' (dough not fully baked though) and the mini-sweets at the end of the meal.
    Was great that one could linger, and not being rushed out the door.
    Maybe I was just unlucky with my choice of meat/dish. But I was happy that my friends were pleased with theirs. (A veal dish and a beef dish)
