Restaurant description

Awarded a Michelin star just 1 year after opening, Galvin La Chapelle is the third venture from illustrious chef brothers, Chris and Jeff. Amidst the fashionable buzz of east London, this spectacular Grade II-listed site also boasts a summery al fresco terrace.

Offering a seasonally changing repertoire from chef patron, Jeff Galvin, the La Chapelle menu spans from elegant prix fixe choices, to gourmet Sunday roasts. Exquisite Galvin signature dishes include lasagne of Dorset crab with beurre Nantais and pea shoots, or Tagine of Bresse pigeon with couscous, confit lemon and harissa sauce, while desserts, complete with sommelier recommendations, include apple tarte Tatin with Normandy crème fraiche.

Named both Tatler magazine and AA London’s Restaurant of the Year, the award-showered Galvin La Chapelle in London boasts one of the most skillfully compiled cellars in London. A rare vertical wine list is offered, as well as some invaluable vintage bottles.

The majestic Galvin La Chapelle dining room features medieval-style chandeliers, lofty stone ceilings and statuesque pillars. La Chapelle restaurant in Spitalfields is a 4-minute walk from Liverpool Street Station.

The dress code is smart casual.

The fixed price menu was good value but the choice very limited especially for my husband who does not eat fish or offal. The meal was delicious and good value. The dining room is beautiful and atmospheric.

Wow wow what a venue, modern contemporary and very stylish. We had a set menu and couldn’t fault anything on it. Only negative remark is that the staff seemed quick to bring out the courses, but will go back.

Loved it food was delicious and service exceptional. I am gluten free lactose free vegetarian, so I am not the easiest to cater for, they did this without fuss or extra cost as they included it in the set menu booked. I will def be back once ive tried the other Galvin restaurants. Oh and how could I forget the venue is stunning.

I absolutely adore Galvin La Chapelle and in fact I have booked with you twice within the last six months and I have been 4 times with friends. As always the service is absolutely wonderful, so is the ambiance. On the last occasion we were celebrating Sara's birthday which you kindly acknowledged regally. However my first course was Lobster Brandande which was extremely dry and the hake dish I had for my main course was unexceptional. My 3 dining companions loved the dishes that they received which was the main thing and it certainly will not stop me returning to Galvin La Chapelle.

Were greeted like old friends on arrival at 6pm on a Sunday evening when the doors were closed. We waited outside with 8 other diners. Booking in quick coats taken care of efficiently and shown to table promptly. The manager Franco was very helpful and friendly so professional and courteous and all the staff very efficient offering bread and bubbles. Choice of menu we had Chefs menu but the tasting menu would have been chosen if we had more time that night. Next time we will choose that. Food excellent prepared fresh and served hot not warm. All choices were delicious and wine carafe a good idea.
