Restaurant description

Awarded a Michelin star just 1 year after opening, Galvin La Chapelle is the third venture from illustrious chef brothers, Chris and Jeff. Amidst the fashionable buzz of east London, this spectacular Grade II-listed site also boasts a summery al fresco terrace.

Offering a seasonally changing repertoire from chef patron, Jeff Galvin, the La Chapelle menu spans from elegant prix fixe choices, to gourmet Sunday roasts. Exquisite Galvin signature dishes include lasagne of Dorset crab with beurre Nantais and pea shoots, or Tagine of Bresse pigeon with couscous, confit lemon and harissa sauce, while desserts, complete with sommelier recommendations, include apple tarte Tatin with Normandy crème fraiche.

Named both Tatler magazine and AA London’s Restaurant of the Year, the award-showered Galvin La Chapelle in London boasts one of the most skillfully compiled cellars in London. A rare vertical wine list is offered, as well as some invaluable vintage bottles.

The majestic Galvin La Chapelle dining room features medieval-style chandeliers, lofty stone ceilings and statuesque pillars. La Chapelle restaurant in Spitalfields is a 4-minute walk from Liverpool Street Station.

The dress code is smart casual.

A perfect dining experience, thank you. The service was excellent and ambience so pleasant. We had a glass of delicious champagne and enjoyed the attention of the sommelier to choose our wine. Each course was delicious with the flavours of the duck liver parfait dish being exceptional. It was followed by the the very good sea bream and finished with the seasonal flavours of the strawberry tart with fragrant pepper meringue shards. We were served bread and tasty petit fours with the coffee. I would recommend.

We chose A La Carte rather than the "Lunch Menu", the choices were extensive, we started with the Terrine and Fois Gras both were excellent, followed by the Beef and Roasted Cod, again beautifully presented and the flavours were exquisite, dessert was a no brainer the Tarte Tatan was outstanding and excellent Coffee, a very satisfying experience. Staff were attentive and friendly, a very pleasant way to celebrate our 49th Wedding Anniversary.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The setting in the older part of the building is very impressive, lots of character and great features. Food was very good. We went for the set menu offer which was very good value and my only slight criticism is that we would have liked the portions to be a bit bigger.

Firstly the venue - tucked off Bishopsgate it is a beautiful converted chapel. Feels special from the moment you step in as the sight and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. We had the 3course menu which is standard with a glass of very tasty fizz. If you want a different pud they tweak the deal to the 2 course option and you pay extra for the pud which was helpful. It has a great wine list and was busy throughout the lunch sitting making for a nice buzz. The food was fantastic - all you’d expect from a Michelin star establishment.

Food were delicious and nicely presented. The deco of the chapel has great atmosphere. I will recommend a Sunday roast if you have lunch on a Sunday.
