Awarded a Michelin star just 1 year after opening, Galvin La Chapelle is the third venture from illustrious chef brothers, Chris and Jeff. Amidst the fashionable buzz of east London, this spectacular Grade II-listed site also boasts a summery al fresco terrace.

Offering a seasonally changing repertoire from chef patron, Jeff Galvin, the La Chapelle menu spans from elegant prix fixe choices, to gourmet Sunday roasts. Exquisite Galvin signature dishes include lasagne of Dorset crab with beurre Nantais and pea shoots, or Tagine of Bresse pigeon with couscous, confit lemon and harissa sauce, while desserts, complete with sommelier recommendations, include apple tarte Tatin with Normandy crème fraiche.

Named both Tatler magazine and AA London’s Restaurant of the Year, the award-showered Galvin La Chapelle in London boasts one of the most skillfully compiled cellars in London. A rare vertical wine list is offered, as well as some invaluable vintage bottles.

The majestic Galvin La Chapelle dining room features medieval-style chandeliers, lofty stone ceilings and statuesque pillars. La Chapelle restaurant in Spitalfields is a 4-minute walk from Liverpool Street Station.

The dress code is smart casual.

Excellent food! Not very creative but cooked to a great standard. Vegetarian options were the best of the lot. The salmon starter was too fatty for me, the quality of the salmon itself was great but the abundance of cheese made it harder to stand out.
Minor point, but I would have preferred cheese or olive oil served with the bread rather than butter even though the butter was excellent.

A lovely building, with nicely spaced tables, elegantly laid out. However, the food was unimpressive, and we had problems with the service. We had the set meal deal. Two of us had something billed as a Mille-feuille of smoked & poached salmon, with horseradish cream. This was poor: salmon in layers with a very creamy filling, bizarrely accompanied by another large dollop of cream If there was horseradish there, it certainly wasn't obvious. The whole dish was ill-conceived. My guests told me the velouté of squash and the paté were good, but I didn't try them. For main course I had Seared fillet of sea bream, with braised endive, light curry & raisin dressing, which was quite good, but nothing terribly special. By this time however we were trying to get someone's attention to serve us the second bottle of wine we had ordered; the wine waiter had brought it but had then disappeared, leaving us with the food going cold and no wine in our glasses. We told a waiter, but nothing happened. So we got up from the table to try to find where our wine was, which did eventually get some response. To be fair, they were very apologetic and took something off the bill, and in every other respect the service was very good, so hopefully this was an unusual lapse. Still, it shouldn't have happened - we didn't want to drink our dry Riesling with the pud! The desserts were good, and the wine list is fairly short but well-chosen.

Overall, a disappointment I'm afraid. Even without the lapse in service, the food wasn't good enough to make us want to go back.

I booked this restaurant to celebrate the birthday of my father.Despite sending message to the restaurant when I booked the table , telling to surprise my father with a small birthday cake, they fail to do so.Very dissapointing !
We paid a bill of £325 for a party of 3 .The starter was disappointing but the main and desert was very good.

The building really has a wow factor. The staff were delightful and the food was excellent. It gets really busy and noisy though.

Great venue. Attentive staff. Good Food. Background music a complete mystery and felt out of place. I gather it has been specially selected by a professional in the field. One person described it as electro-jazz!
