Amazing experience. From the very delightful phone message received to re-confirm my booking, to the sincere goodbye as we left the restaurant, I was left in awe. As we arrived we were welcomed and asked if we had any dietary requirements before we were seated. The food, its simply amazing. We has our starters, the heritage beetroot salad dish and the traditional haggis dish. Personally I've never had something so full of flavor as a starter. We then moved on to the main, I had the wild mushroom tart and let me tell you, I've NEVER tasted a mushroom like it! I don't know how but some sort of magic must have been done to make it taste so spectacular. My partner had the seared monkfish and thoroughly enjoyed it also. The dishes don't look like a lot but the food is a great quality and you don't need a lot of it to fill you. The service and the attention to detail is amazing. Even watching a table next to us be set up ready for the next guests was mesmerizing, the care taken to make it perfect made me smile. The waiting staff all work very well together so everything just flows. Very clean and sharp, my favorite part of the whole restaurant would have to be the lobster bar as you walk in, its the first thing you see and it blows you away.

A very busy night after a 6 Nations match but we got a good table. But reception and initial service with menus and orders was indifferent, no help with coats for example. Menu was good but surprised some choices not available. But the food was great as usual and the real waiter we had was helpful, interested and efficient. So all ended well

Excellent meal but the prices seem to have increased quite a bit with the change of menu. The wine is also expensive. £38 for Sauvignon Blanc.

The food was nice enough but I'm not sure it's value for money. We had to wait at least 20minutes for someone to take our order (10-15 minutes of which we had our menus down and were trying to catch someone's eye). Our starter came quickly which was good but once we had finished, we sat with dirty plates for a further 10 minutes at least. My husband had ordered a beer when we ordered food and it didn't come until after we had finished our starter. The main again came quickly and my venison was lovely, my husband had the beef bourgignon which he said was delicious. I had advised in advance that is was my husbands birthday but when the waiter (I believe he was French) came to give him a plate saying happy birthday on it, he had to ask who's birthday it was and just plonked the plate down and scampered off which kind of defeated the sense of occasion. All in all it was fine but in no way the 5 star experience we had expected, and compared with the value/service you would receive at any high street chain restaurant, I don't think it is worth the money. One of the waitresses was lovely though and most of the staff seemed very nice, it was just perhaps our waiter.

The menu was quite restricted and the prices were high compared with previous visits and other restaurants of a similar standing.
The service was, however, very good. Friendly and efficient.
