Frontline has a clubby, relaxed atmosphere, not surprising when you appreciate that the restaurant sits below a leading club of war reporters dedicated to highlighting global causes and crises. The menu is an uncompromising selection of honest British dishes, with ingredients from independent suppliers and the owner's own farm in Norfolk. A cleverly priced wine list chosen by Malcolm Gluck opts for flat charges rather than mark-ups.

Pleasant surroundings and good food, a change from the usual fare in this area.

Lunch for two proved to be a much better experience than dinner for a group. The food and wine were good each time, the service was brilliant at lunchtime but invisible when we visited for dinner as a group of eight a year ago.

Charming place. Didn't know it existed before, had seen it in the news because of the journo club upstairs but didn't realise the restaurant and the events are open to the public. Worth a visit. Very simple and sophisticated. It should be in the tourist guides.

I just loved this place. Wonderful concept. They grow their own food and promote small family wine producers, support their own charity which promotes independent journalism and run regular discussions on current affairs, politics and the media. Wonderful décor with huge famous black and white photographs. Everything is simple, honest, worthy and challenging.
