Restaurant description

Combining Italian-American dining flair with a fun retro 1950's feel, Frankie & Benny's Stafford Waterfront is a popular family-friendly eatery with a relaxed ambience. Kids get their own menus, there are colourful cocktails from the bar, and plenty of plush leather seating to sit back and unwind in.

Mixing the sass and confidence of New York City with genuine Italian passion, Frankie & Benny’s specialises in American-Italian classics. The team’s love for food is clear from the lovingly crafted dishes, spanning from breakfast to dinner, with plentiful vegetarian and vegan options on offer.

There is a dedicated gluten-free menu, plus ‘Feel Good’ dishes for those looking for a lighter choice. Frankie & Benny’s is the perfect spot for an overdue catchup, or a leisurely get together.

Priding itself on being easygoing, affordable and fun for the whole family, Frankie & Benny's Stafford Waterfront is right on the edge of the River Sow in the town centre. Stafford Rail Station is an 8-minute walk away.

We were taken to our table on arrival and although not very busy is was a nice atmosphere. We booked the special deal of £9.50 for two courses including a drink and we were pleasantly surprised by the choice of drink and food available. The service was very good and we were pleased with the quantity and quality of the food.

OK experience, food was average but unfortunately service wasn't that great. Not enough staff on duty so didn't get our second round of drinks until after we had finished our meal!

Very good experience, two of our party are disabled and we're looked after excellently, our waitress looked after us superbly well. The disabled lift was playing up a little and, I presume the manager, attended within a minute or so and sorted it out. Things do go wrong in the real world it is how they are attended to in this case 100% satisfaction.

Arrived earlier than we had booked due to bad weather, this was not a problem to the staff and we were given a choice of seats. Food was excellent, always the best Prawn cocktails. Cheesy Galic bread and onion rings, very tasty. Gnocchi and Raviolli really nice. The only negative about this experiance is always the bar service, I waited 15 min for first glass of wine!! I recommend you buy in bulk !!

Eggs Benedict. Both eggs over cooked. The others enjoyed the pancakes. Tea came as hot water in a cup with tea bag at the side, which was a way if serving tea that was new to me. A tea pot would have been better.

The food at Frankie and Benny's is usually quite tasty but unfortunately we have found the service at the Stafford site (both when it was in Hough Retail Park and now at the new waterside location in Stafford) to be poor. We always have to wait too long for our food and the staff is not very professional. We saw one of the waitresses knock some cutlery on the floor and pick it up and put it back in with the other clean cutlery. Diisgusting! In addition, our uncle who is 84 and can't eat many things tried to order the fish & chips. It was only then that the waiter told us that the restaurant was out of fish (at 7pm on a Tuesday night?). Why didn't he mention what was not available when he sat us?! We have eaten at the F&B's in both Dudley and Uttoxeter where we've had much better experiences with short waits and professional staff. Not sure what's wrong in Stafford but we won't be going there again. We find the prices too high (£62 for four of us) to put up with that. Also, see below for the problems we had with booking online!
