Restaurant description

Set in the charming village of Fressingfield in Suffolk, The Fox & Goose restaurant showcases traditional-meets-modern cuisine. This 2 AA Rosette-holding restaurant is featured in both the Michelin and Harden's food guides.

Starters on the Fox & Goose menu might include smoked duck breast with pickled winter vegetables, whilst the wild sea bass with scallop mousse with sherry caramel and Parmesan crumble is a must-try main course.

A mouth-watering array of desserts follow, among which the chocolate and peanut butter mousse with popcorn, salted caramel and caramelised white chocolate sorbet is a favourite. This Grade II-listed setting also features an impressive al fresco area, shaded by the neighbouring greenery.

Featuring a tasting menu and a prized Sunday lunch offering, The Fox & Goose is a diverse dining spot. Bosting many original features, this former guildhall has stood on the site since 1509.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Food was ok although we had to return one meal as it was clearly reheated and burnt so much it was black . The portions were tiny .... Would have preferred to pay more and not have had to make a sandwich as soon as I returned home as I was still very hungry . Would not return .

Superb Sunday lunch on 9th Feb 2020. First time visiting and it was worth the journey through the storm. Food was delicious - parsnip fritters were amazing as was the roast rib of beef. Service was also excellent - friendly, efficient staff who made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back.

We've been a few times now & food has been of a consistently high standard. Portion size has akways erred towards the manageable. This time, eating from the pub classics bar menu, the battered fish strayed into minuscule territory - 4 mouthfuls. Lucky we filled up with chip butties or we'd have left seriously hungry! Stay on posher menu would be our advice for taste & value

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the fox and goose. As a group of 8 friends, we like to enjoy a good atmosphere as well as good food. Having a round table made this so much more enjoyable. We enjoyed a variety of dishes from the lunch time fixed menu and feedback from all was positive. Special mention to the roast beef which was melt in the mouth and the rich gravy which challenged my mums! Desserts were indulgent and the petit fours a satisfying end.

Lovely restaurant, beautifully set in a delightful Suffolk Village contained within a charming period building oozing character. Very well served by very approachable and interested staff who took trouble. The upstairs restaurant had an excellent ambience. My tradtional Sunday Roast was very good and my guests thoroughly enjoyed their fish main. The chocolate pud that followed was scrumptious! We will most certainly return.
