Restaurant description

Set in the charming village of Fressingfield in Suffolk, The Fox & Goose restaurant showcases traditional-meets-modern cuisine. This 2 AA Rosette-holding restaurant is featured in both the Michelin and Harden's food guides.

Starters on the Fox & Goose menu might include smoked duck breast with pickled winter vegetables, whilst the wild sea bass with scallop mousse with sherry caramel and Parmesan crumble is a must-try main course.

A mouth-watering array of desserts follow, among which the chocolate and peanut butter mousse with popcorn, salted caramel and caramelised white chocolate sorbet is a favourite. This Grade II-listed setting also features an impressive al fresco area, shaded by the neighbouring greenery.

Featuring a tasting menu and a prized Sunday lunch offering, The Fox & Goose is a diverse dining spot. Bosting many original features, this former guildhall has stood on the site since 1509.

On my booking I stated my partner and I were both vegetarians. The Fox and Goose were brilliant. They had a choice of starters and main courses all interesting vegetarian options, that were not on their menu. Very friendly and welcoming and overall fantastic customer service.

We came for lunch so loved the fact the emphasis was on quality rather than quantity. The attention to detail in preparation and presentation of the dishes we were served was excellent. Having vegetables, sauces and accompaniments that were specific to our chosen dishes is an indication of fine dining, rather than being served generic bowls of veg. Service was friendly and efficient. We thought the 3 course lunch was excellent value.

My husband and I have been eating at the Fox&Goose for many years.. The food gets better and better. The staff are attentive and pleasant. This is our go to restaurant for special occasions as well as Sunday lunch. We have taken friends to dine with us and without fail they are always impressed. We look forward to many more lovely meals in the future.

A lovely evening, however, my daughter moaned as nobody offered to take our coats we hung them on our chairs and on the seats next to us and we would like to have been offered drinks rather than have to keep asking.

This is the first time we have been back to the Fox and Goose since it was refurbished. The ambience and service were excellent. The food was wonderful, presented well and the flavours exceptional. However, the portions are getting smaller and therefore affect the value for money. Beware!

The Fox & Goose is just the best restaurant inNorfolk/Suffolk. The beautiful but unpretentious exterior gives no clues tothe delights which await inside. Whilst others inthe group settled for the excellent Christmas offering, I went for the beef cheeks. Most definitely one of the very best main courses I've enjoyed in my more than 60 years. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly without being overpowering. The Fox & Goose truly is a Suffolk secret!
